Rules Q&A
- Q: Hi,
Need a little answer:
Does the reaction from Dragon's Breath Castle which say's - Reaction: Even if this card is bowed, after engaging at a battlefield at one of your provinces: The Attacker targets and bows one of his Personalities there, can be negeted by Kae's triger??
After a Battle action targets Kae, you may discard the Imperial Favor: If you did, negate Kae's destruction, bowing, and movement from the action's effects.
One more:
If my shugenja personality is dishonorable and I use the Temple of Hotei Limited: Bow your performing Shugenja: Gain 1 Honor. Does he became honorable and I dont gain the honor or does this not count as performing action by this shugenja?
thx for reply:)
Best regards Tom
A: Does the reaction from Dragon's Breath Castle ... can be negeted by Kae's triger?? No. Kae's trait is triggered by her being targetted by a Battle action, whereas Dragon's Breath Castle's ability is a Reaction.
If my shugenja personality is dishonorable and I use the Temple of Hotei Limited: Bow your performing Shugenja: Gain 1 Honor. Does he became honorable and I dont gain the honor or does this not count as performing action by this shugenja? An action from an ability which says "Bow your performing Shugenja" is performed by the Shugenja you bow. Alex Jones, "Kakita Kae vs Dragon's Breath Castle", 18 Jun 2012 - Q: Dragon's Breath Castle Says: "After another player's Dynasty Phase begins, if he controls any personalities and he assigned none of them to an attacking army this turn: Gain 2 Honor.
So I'm playing DBC and my opponent has three personalities in play and attacks with one of them. In the course of the battle I destroy the personality he attacked with. When his Dynasty Phase comes around he A) Controls a personality - check and B) did not assign any of them to attack this turn - check. so I met the requirements and gain 2 honor. Is this correct?
It's the use of the word them on the SH that makes me ask this question. If the intent was for me to only be able to gain 2 if he does not attack this turn then I assume it would be worded "if he controls any personalities and assigned no units to attacking armies this turn: Gain 2 Honor." or something to that effect.
A: You are correct; you will gain the 2 Honor in the example you posted above.
The trait on Dragon's Breath Castle only checks once, upon triggering, if your opponent controls any Personalities and whether or not any of them assigned to an attacking army that turn. Ben Higgins, "Dragon's Breath Castle Honor Gain", 23 Feb 2012 - Q: *Dragon's Breath Castle After another player's Dynasty Phase begins, if he controls any Personalities and he assigned none of them to an attacking army this turn: Gain 2 Honor. *Know No Fear Reaction: After another player's action targets your performing Samurai: Negate his bowing and movement from the action's effects. Reaction: After a Fear action targets your performing Samurai: Negate its effects.
Question: Could you play Know no Fear to negate the Reaction of Dragon's Breath Castle? Need your insight Sirs.
A: Yes, you can.
Though the attacker is doing the targeting for the Dragon's Breath Castle Reaction, it's still "another player's action" per Know No Fear's trigger. Brook Cunningham, "Dragon's Breath Castle vs Know no Fear", 23 Jan 2012
