Rules Q&A
- Q: Hey there,
If i copy the oni keyword with kyogen and then perform Drinking One's Life with him, will the effect end once kyogen loses the oni keyword?
I'm not sure about this cause of the "while your oni remains in play" clause. Kyogen is still in play but no longer is he oni.
Thanks in advance.
A: "Your Oni" on Drinking One's life is self referential.
If Kyogen plays it (after copying Oni), as long as he remains in play, Drinking One's Life's effects will continue per card text. Dan Jacobson, "Kyogen + Oni + Drinking One's Life", 6 May 2010 - Q: I have a personality equipped with Gift Armor (or some item that negates Chi penalties). I target my Oni and play Drinking One's Life on the personality with Gift Armor so that at the start of each player's turn he would normally receive a +1F/-1C token.
Does Gift Armor prevent the placement of the token itself, or just the -1C effect of the token?
A: Just the effect. Brook Cunningham, "Drinking One's Life and Chi Penalty negation", 29 Apr 2010 - Q: The end result being that as long as the Gift Armor remains in play on the personality targeted with Drinking One's Life (and the Oni remains in play) he would continue to gain tokens and only be affected by the +1F part of the token and not the -1C part of the token.
A: Yes, that's correct.
Poor thirsty Oni. ( ) Brook Cunningham, "Drinking One's Life and Chi Penalty negation", 29 Apr 2010 - Q: Furumaro is targeted by Drinking One's Life (or Isawa Fosuta) and receives his 4th +1F/-1C token. Will his ability to negate his own destruction keep him alive until the end of the turn(?)
A: Yes. The wording in those two cases are parallel. Zen Faulkes, "Furumaro vs Drinking One's Life", 19 Apr 2010
