Rules Q&A
- Q: If I destroy Akodo Kobi, can she react to her own destruction? Her reaction says, "Reaction: After another player's Battle action resolves which destroyed one of your Lion Clan Personalities at the current battlefield: During the next End Phase, if the destroyed Personality is dead, bring him into play, ignoring costs and Honor Requirements." The timing constraint, "After another player's Battle action resolves" makes me believe that no, she cannot, since she'd be dead after the resolution of the action. Is that correct?
A: Akodo Kobi exp cannot, indeed, react to her own destruction, since, as you point out, she is out of play by the time her trigger occurs. Alex Jones, "Akodo Kobi", 3 Jan 2013 - Q: Do paragons our of Shamate Keep keep their personal honor (ph) when they are dishonored? Ie Akodo Kobi is dishonored, is her ph a 0 or 3?
I've been told that the paragons have their personal honor reduce to 0 but that it could be raised thru Honor of the Lion. I think that is wrong as the rules simply state that dishonorable people have a max ph of 0 which would automatically reduce the ph to 0 because of the way stats are calculated and Shamate Keep overrides the max ph rule. There is noting in the rulebook that states that dishonorable people have their ph reduced to 0.
A: Per the rules on calculating stats, normally you would first add up all bonuses and penalties to the Personality's Personal Honor, then apply the rulebook's "Dishonorable Personalities have a maximum Personal Honor of 0" clause. Shamate Keep directly prevents that clause from being applied, and therefore if another effect is giving the Personality a bonus or penalty to Personal Honor, that will be taken into effect in calculating the Personality's Personal Honor.
If Kobi is dishonored, her Personal Honor is 3. If you play Honor of the Lion on her, it will be 4 (base 3 plus a bonus of 1), and with the "maximum 0" clause not applying, remain at 4. Jon Palmer, "Shamate Keep and dishonorable", 23 Jun 2012 - Q: Say I play plains of resolution on Akodo Kobi, then proceed to either tactician or Pure Heart for the force pump. If my opponent plays a card such as shameful injury or a card that reduces force. Since my personality is still targeted by the plains would I go back to her force before I force pumped or would the plains still negate the reduction?
A: Plains of Resolution prevents force penalties from other players cards, it does not prevent the negation of force bonuses.
Card features, Bonuses and penalties: When a bonus, penalty, maximum, or minimum ends or is negated, the resulting stat change is not a penalty or bonus. Alex Jones, "Plains of Resolution.", 19 Aug 2011 - Q: Akodo Kobi (Experienced) Must the use of the reaction be declared immediately after the destruction of said Personality(?)
A: Yes. Just like every Reaction, the trigger "after" = "immediately after." Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Kobi (Experienced)", 2 Jun 2011
