Rulings
- Erratum: Reads, "Enlistment Until the game ends, after each time a Follower enters play from a player’s hand, the player may draw a card at the beginning of his next End Phase. He decides immediately whether he will gain this draw." [MRP, Lotus Edition, 31 October 2005] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 70
- Lets you draw one card per Follower attached. [FAQ] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 71
- Q: Does Enlistment let me draw one card per Follower I played, or just one card if I played Followers? A: One per. Legend of the Five Rings FAQ, Version 3.6.2, May 1998, p. 22
- Erratum: Reads, “Enlistment Until the end of the game, during each player’s End Phase, he may draw an additional card if he has played any Followers from his hand that turn.” [MRP, Samurai Edition, 25 July 2007] Comprehensive Rules, Samurai Edition, with specific card rulings, final version, May 2009, p. 134
Rules Q&A
- Q: Ancestors plus Enlistment.
The rules say nothing about wether or not an Ancestor triggers effects that look for attachment or playing of followers, and past rulings would seem to indicate that for purposes of attachment, Ancestors count as followers, as with Kamoko.
A: Attaching an Ancestor will give you an extra draw under Enlistment, because that's not an effect being applied to the Ancestor. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 7 February 2001", 9 Feb 2001 - Q: If my oponent resolves enlistment during his event phase and during his turn I attach a follower to one of my personalities (Traveling Ronin for example). Will I draw an extra card during his end phase?
What if during my oponent turn I attach Ashigaru Conscripts to one of my personalities, when will I get the extra card from the follower, on my oponent's end phase or only during my next turn that haven't even started yet?
Ashigaru Conscripts
Ashigaru • Can only attach to a Samurai. After this card enters play from your hand: You may draw an additional card during your next End Phase. Battle: Bow this card: Ranged 3 Attack. Battle: Bow this card: Give -3 strength to this battlefield's province.
Enlistment
Until the end of the game, during each player's End Phase, he may draw an additional card if he played any Followers from his hand that turn.
A: Enlistment only gives an additional draw to the player whose turn it is. Hence, the "each player's end phase, he may draw ..."
Ashigaru Conscripts gives you an additional draw during your next End Phase, whenever that comes along.
The draws granted by Ashigaru Conscripts and Enlistment are completely independent of one another. If you play Ashigaru Conscripts during your own turn while Enlistment is already in effect, you may draw an additional card for each effect.
