Rulings
- Erratum: Reads, “Family Library Bow this card: Produce 2 Gold. Limited: Destroy this card: Discard a target faceup card in one of your provinces, refilling it with a target discarded (not dead) Personality from your discard pile.” [MRP, Samurai Edition, 25 July 2007] Comprehensive Rules, Samurai Edition, with specific card rulings, final version, May 2009, p. 135
Rules Q&A
- Q: There is an old ruling on this topic here: http://alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... ry#p838845 but the rules on required targeting have since been changed.
Can I now use family library, fail to discard a dynasty card when instructed to do so by the first sentence (because I don't have one), then continue to resolve the rest of the action, placing a personality face-up into the empty province?
A: It's not that the Rules have changed, it's that Family Library's text has changed, so that the card in the Province is no longer targeted.
So yes, you can use it as you describe. Brook Cunningham, "Family Library with no dynasty deck", 24 Mar 2014 - Q: Family Library cannot fill an empty province because it requires targeting. Western Outpost does not, if the province is empty can you refill it with Western Outpost?
A: Yes, you may. Dan Jacobson, "Western Outpost & Empty Province", 3 Apr 2009
