Rules Q&A
- Q: I have the fan of command attached to a person, which says, this personality gains tactician while the fan of command is attached. the other plays wieght of heavans on the fan,
A: [MARTY] He needs to play Weight of the Heavens against the Personality with the fan, not the fan itself. Weight of the Heavens won't do anything if you target the Fan since it does not have any traits it could remove. Martin Lund, "Rules for 10 May 2004", 13 May 2004 - Q: Hi there,
I have recently encountered such problem. Let's say i have a personality in a battle, who has Fan of Command (or Menhari-Gata), which gives that personality Tactician trait. I use it, and then somehow move that item to another personality (either using Iuchi Yue's ability, or the one from Shiro Shinjo). Another personality gets that item, and receives Tactician trait. Can i use it?
A: The Tactician trait? On the new personality? Sure. The personality who now has the Item has just gotten the Tactician trait, and has not used it this turn. It's the same as if you had played Moment of Brilliance on him/her. Vaughn Derderian, "Post for June 16, 2003", 16 Jun 2003 - Q: Well, I am almost positive I made the right call but I would like it confirmed.
In Search of the Future negates the force bonus derived from the tactician trait the Fan of Command confers to the personality, thus is not considered a bonus from an attached card. Right or wrong?
A: The Fan of Command does not give Force bonuses. It gives the Tactician trait. Using the trait to discard gives a Force bonus that comes from a basic game rule, not from any card. In Search of the Future will reduce it to 0. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 September 2002", 6 Sep 2002 - Q: If someone is using Akodo Sensei, and a personality of theirs qualifies (3 chi or higher and doesn't have Tactician already) can they play Moment of Brilliance on him or give him the Fan of Command so he can gain force bonuses?
A: Yes. If a Personality acquires the Tactician trait from somewhere besides the Sensei, the restriction against using it to gain a Force bonus no longer applies. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 15-16 February 2001", 19 Feb 2001
