Rules Q&A
- Q: If either I or my opponent bring more than one total copies of Political Standoff into play each player will then gain Influence tokens equal to the total honor gained/lost times the number of Political Standoffs in play, correct?
For instance there are two Standoffs in play, and I play Favors in my limited phase. Do I gain 2 Influence tokens or 4?
Relevant Text: Favors: "Political Limited: Bow your target unbowed Courtier. A target player gains or loses 2 Honor."
Political Standoff: "After a player gains Honor, or any of his opponents lose Honor from the rulebook or cards they do not own, give him an equal number of Influence tokens. A player who begins his turn with 50 or more Influence tokens wins the game. This Event will not be discarded from play, nor have its effects prevented."
A: Off the top of my head, it's not possible to put multiple Political Standoffs into play. The ability that puts them into play says (emphasis mine):
"Political Open: If no player controls a copy of Political Standoff, put this Event into play."
So, as long as one is out, no others' abilities are legal to take. Brook Cunningham, "Multiple Political Standoff", 5 May 2014 - Q: If I play Favors, then use Jurojin's Blessing to put it back in my hand, can I play that same copy of Favors again in the same turn, since my hand is a Face Down zone?
A: Yes, indeed; though, more specifically, because Favors went both face-down AND out-of-play. Brook Cunningham, "Wierd Rules-Lawyerish question", 29 Mar 2012 - Q: In Refrence to this:

Favors is a card from BtD.

Thank you, sir. Card title duely noted. Brook Cunningham, "Re: Proper Deference vs. Prayer for Guidance", 14 Jul 2011 - Q: I play 3 Favors to gain 6 honor during the action phase. I target one of my Samurai with Prayer for Guidance. I assign him then later bow him due to battle resolution, thus gaining me 3 honor. That is all the honor I gain on my turn. Can my opponent play Proper Deference's reaction to set my honor back down?
Proper Deference Political Reaction: Before a turn ends, if the active player has gained 8 or more Honor this turn, excluding gains from battle resolution: Set his Family Honor equal to its value when the turn began. Draw a card.
Prayer for Guidance Battle/Open: Target your honorable Samurai: After the next time this turn he is destroyed or bowed by another player's action or by battle resolution, gain 3 Honor.
A: EDIT: Ah. Favors. Gotcha.
You seem to be asking if Prayer for Guidance's Honor gain is "from battle resolution", but it is not. It is from the action itself, triggered by something that occurred because of a battle's resolution.
I hope that answers you sufficiently. Brook Cunningham, "Re: Proper Deference vs. Prayer for Guidance", 14 Jul 2011 - Q: Unforseen Cost doesn't cover proclaiming right? Does it cover strategies like Favors or just events, kata, items, dynasty cards ect?
A: Proclaiming Honor is from the Rulebook, not the card. And Strategies don't (typically) enter play, so Unforeseen doesn't hit them either. Brook Cunningham, "Oracle of the Void #l5r", 15 Jan 2022
