Rules Q&A
- Q: So just a clarification on this.
The good faith rule wouldn't stop you from announcing this action in a battle where you had 2 units (1 targeted by Impressive Resillence), right? And nothing prevents you from "choosing" the Impresively resilient personality as the performer. However, the prevention of paying the cost would cause the action to fail, yes?
A: Incorrect.
The Good Faith Rule goes on to say: "A player cannot announce an action on the basis of a legal card to play, but then choose an illegal attachment or Personality for the actual play choice." Brook Cunningham, "Fearless Defense vs. Bow negation", 14 Feb 2011 - Q: If someone If someone plays Impressive Resilience, can they use the same personality for Fearless Defense, or would it just fizzle since the cost of bowing can not be paid even though the rest of the unit can bow?
Impressive Resilience Battle: Give a target opposed Personality +2F. Negate his bowing and movement during the current Combat Segment
Fearless Defense Battle: Choose your performing unbowed Personality and bow all unbowed cards in his unit: Bow a target enemy Personality. Destroy him if his unit's total Gold Cost is lower than your Personality's unit's total Gold Cost.
A: The cost cannot be paid because the Personality does not bow. However, the action doesn't "fizzle", it may not be announced because of the Good Faith Rule: When an action is announced, the player must be able to target all required targets, meet all conditions of the action, and pay all mandatory costs, to the best of his or her knowledge. Alex Jones, "Fearless Defense vs. Bow negation", 12 Feb 2011 - Q: Wrath: How does these cards interact when the personality targeted has destruction negation(?)
A: They're played, and all the effects happen except the destruction, which is negated due to the other card effect.
