Rules Q&A
- Q: Assume a personalit loaded with token followers of the Utemaro, Suitero, Matron variety.
Field of Glorious Slaughter is in play.
One the various means of shooting the personality with a ranged attack despite the attached followers is used, killing the personality (and gaining 2 honor via fields for the dead personality).
In other words does their status as cards ("cards are destroyed") last long enough for the honor gain, or are they "removed from the game", and thus not destroyed for the purposes of Field.
A: The Rules for cleaning up attached cards due to Personality Death (rather than Unit Death) are on page 87 of the Diamond Edition Rulebook: "do likewise to all non-token cards attached to it ... In all cases, remove from the game all tokens that were on it."
So, Follower Tokens are not "non-token cards." They are removed rather than destroyed and do not trigger Field of Glorious Slaughter.
To get a proper "Utemaro Bomb" combo off, you need to hit the loaded up unit with any of the following:
- a unit-killing effect (Overwhelmed, To Do What We Must) - a slew of consecutive Ranged Attacks (Kuro's Fire) - superior force during Battle Resolution (Ambush on a Bowed Personality, for instance). Martin Lund, "Rules for 16 September 2004", 23 Sep 2004 - Q: Field of Glorious Slaughter - does the extra experience for cards destoryed at the battle include cards destoryed at resolution
A: It includes cards destroyed during resolution. The Terrain is still in play. Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 September 2004", 6 Sep 2004 - Q: If Field includes cards destroyed at resolution, then the matter of it being in a increase in, or a separate honor gain from, the honor gained from destorying the card. If it is separate, then one could do a 'Crush the Unworthy - Field of Glorious Slaughter combo" and if gain honor in a battle for cards bowed with Crush - whereas if it was an increase, no honor would be gained for those cards..
A: They are distinct gains. However, they both happen during Resolution. You will gain no Honor during Battle Resolution from destroying units hit by Crush the Unworthy - not from the Rulebook and not from Field of Glorious Slaughter. Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 September 2004", 6 Sep 2004 - Q: does Field of Glorious Slaughter give Honor for attached cards that get destroyed during a duel, or only for "directly" destroyed cards?
A: Anything that gets destroyed for whatever reason. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 13 December 2003", 13 Dec 2003 - Q: If a victorious army contains dishonored personalities, what happens during Battle Resolution if "Field of Glorious Slaughter" has been played by the winner?
A: The terrain generates honor, so is unaffected by the presence of dishonored Personalities. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 28 October 2003", 29 Oct 2003 - Q: Field of Glorious Slaughter read: Immediate Terrain Political Battle: Gain 2 Honor each time a card you do not control is destroyed at this battle.
By GE Rulebook Resolution Phase is prior to destruction of Terrains. If i win a battle i'll destroy all his cards, and i get two honor for each card, because i've win, and two more aditional honor points for each card because the terrain.
I've won to a 6 cards army, so this terrain will make me win a total of 24 honor. That's turbo honor! :-p
I've applied correctly this card, or i'm missing something?
A: Seems right to me. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for August 8th, 2003", 8 Aug 2003
