Rules Q&A
- Q: If Bayushi Hikoko is at a battlefield where Fields of Battle is in effect and chooses to dishonour himself, can he then bow someone or even dishonour someone? Does he loose his base abilities as soon as he hits zero personal honour?
Bayushi Hikoko: Political Battle: You may dishonor Hikoko: Target an enemy Personality. Bow him if his Personal Honor is lower than Hikoko's Chi. Dishonor the enemy Personality if you dishonored Hikoko
Fields of Battle: Battle: While at this battlefield, Personalities with 0 or 1 Personal Honor may not use their base abilities and have -1F.
Thank you,
A: Hikoko has already started to use his base ability before Fields of Battle would check his personal honor.
Remember the sequence of actions:
A. Announce ability (Fields of Battle checks before this step) B. Declare Targets C. Pay Costs (Hikoko may dishonor himself here) D. Effects
Once dishonored, of course, Hikoko may not have his action announced (i.e. "used") if Fields of Battle is in play. Dan Jacobson, "Hikoko + Fields of Battle", 27 Jan 2010 - Q: Question about timing. If Sihaken wins a battle where Fields of Battle has been played, is the terrain cleared before or after Sihaken's reaction (i.e. can he use his ability?)
A: Provinces are destroyed during the Resolution Segment, but Terrains aren't discarded until the Final Steps, so Sihaken will not be able to use his Reaction (see here for the sequence). Brook Cunningham, "Bayushi Sihaken + Fields of Battle", 27 Jan 2010 - Q: Unrelated follow-up: If Fields of Battle has already been played and then personalities move into the battlefield, do they now suffer from Fields of Battle's effects, or do the penalities only apply to personalities present when Fields of Battle was played?
A: The former case. Personalities moving in later would be subject to the restriction and penalty. The Terrain creates an ongoing effect that affects all Personalities to whom the conditions apply while it lasts. Brook Cunningham, "Bayushi Sihaken + Fields of Battle", 27 Jan 2010 - Q: Thank you,
A: You're very welcome. Brook Cunningham, "Bayushi Sihaken + Fields of Battle", 27 Jan 2010
