Rules Q&A
- Q: 1.- I have a Fire Dragon in play, and a Agasha Miyoshi face-up in the Province. Could I pay 3 Gold to hire Agasha Miyoshi (without gaining Honor) and bring her into play?
A: Assuming you a Phoenix player, sure. That's the whole point of her trait. Martin Lund, "Rules for 15 December 2004", 22 Dec 2004 - Q: I am somewhat surprised this set of questions hasn't come up before. The cards involved have been around for more than 4 months!
First situation: Fire Dragon is making a Ranged 10 attack using it's Innate ability, using City of Rememberence's ability to ignore the bowing part, and has a Kuro's Fire or Fires from Within. May he then bow to cast the spell, and add the two attacks together?
A: Sure. Those are two Ranged Attack abilities on two different cards. You can combine them into a Ranged Attack Action. Just keep in mind that combining other attacks into Kuro's Fire is usually counter-productive, since you must still abide Kuro's Fire's action restrictions on this combined Ranged Attack Action (Force + Chi cap). Martin Lund, "Rules for 19 October 2004", 24 Oct 2004 - Q: Second situation. Fire Dragon out of CoR. Isawa House Guard is also in play. May the Fire Dragon bow to cast his Ranged 10, straighten with the IHG, then bow to cast it again, combining them? Or bow for his two ranged 5s, making a ranged 15 and a ranged 5 attack?
A: "a card can not combine ranged attacks with itself." (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 90) Martin Lund, "Rules for 19 October 2004", 24 Oct 2004 - Q: If I use Surprise Attack to create a battlefield not associated with a province, is it considered adjacent to any province for effects requiring an adjacent province (such as Glorious Mission)?
Example: I declare an attack with the Fire Dragon, and during the course of the battle play Surprise Attack to move him and an enemy unit to a created battlefield. As his first action, the enemy leader targets my Fire Dragon with an action. Can I then play Glorious Mission to move him to another battlefield?

"...Battlefields not associated with a province are not adjacent to any other battlefield." Brook Cunningham, "Surprise Attack + Adjacency", 17 Nov 2008 - Q: I have Hida Kuon Exp 5 at one province, and my oponent assigns the Fire Dragon to a different province. He then proceeds to resolve Hida Kuon's battle first. Then he resolves the Fire Dragon's battle. Can I play Reinforce the Gates to move him to Hida Kuon's already resolved battle?
A: I'm assuming the player with the Fire Dragon is the attacker in this scenario. Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Reinforce the Gates and resolved battles", 1 Feb 2008 - Q: Would the Fire Dragon be bowed?
A: When it went home after all battles resolve, yes. http://rules.l5r.com/Battles#After_Resolution Zen Faulkes, "Reinforce the Gates and resolved battles", 1 Feb 2008
