Rules Q&A
- Q: The point of the question : If I want to play Fire In the Hidden City, do I need to meet honor requirement.
A: No, nor do you need to meet them for A Wish Granted. Martin Lund, "Rules for 23 October 2004", 25 Oct 2004 - Q: How can a province contain a face up event (in a Diamond Legal situation) when an attacking army destroys one of your provinces?
A: Bayushi Tai (nonexperienced) The Shogun's Barracks Heimin Laborers Agasha Seruma Kolat Recruiter Oracle of Blood Touching the Elements (Air Action) Trade District War on the Plains
Probably not an exhaustive list, but that's a start. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 and 6 September 2004", 8 Sep 2004 - Q: Can you still use Fire in the Hidden City if the personality or event was face down during the attack and was only flipped face up when it was discarded as the province was destroyed?
A: No. The card must've been face-up in before the Province ceased to exist for the Province to have "contained a face-up Event." Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 and 6 September 2004", 8 Sep 2004 - Q: Do effects that bring personalities into play outside of the dynasty phase circumvent the "loyal" trait?
Say if I am a shadowlands player, and I have a Sunetra in my province when it gets destroyed, could Fire in the Hidden City (or some other method) bring her into play for me?
A: The rules on "Loyal" do not pertain exclusively to buying Personalities in the Dyasty Phase, or even bringing people into play. They prohibit getting control of a Loyal card that isn't aligned to your Faction by any means.
Also, the rules prohibiting gaining control of the card are not considered "restrictions" by rulebook definition either. Prohibiting you from controling something is a more broad effect than simply keeping you from bring a card into play. Martin Lund, "Question about the Loyal trait", 23 Mar 2005
