Rules Q&A
- Q: With a Fire Maple Mempo set to zero, may personalities be brought into play from a dynasty discard pile?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Fire Maple Mempo", 6 Mar 2008 - Q: What is the focus value of a personality (or any dynasty card)?
A: The fish.
Which is to say the question is an intolerant abstraction since it asks for a value for something that does not exist, so there is no value. http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Absent_stats
Before someone says, "But that means the stat must be zero!" -- no. Fire Maple Mempo implictly restricts itself to cards with Focus values. It does not give Focus values to cards without them.
Yes, Fire Maple Mempo could be worded more explictly to avoid rules lawyering. Zen Faulkes, "Fire Maple Mempo", 6 Mar 2008
