Rules Q&A
- Q: If I play Unrequited Love on a personality, can my opponent choose the option "Bow to gain 1 honor", and then use Rokuro's reaction to prevent the personality from bowing, thus cancelling Unrequited love?
A: Cancel? No. "Cancel" has a very specific meaning (Diamond rules, pg. 72). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 30 November 2003", 1 Dec 2003 - Q: * Akodo Rokuro: the opponent plays a Stand Against the Waves, Rokuro can only save one Personality from bowing, right? Also, against a Block Supply Lines or Tsudao's Favor, he can use his ability, right? But then, it only keeps the Personality unbowed - the rest of the unit is bowed, right?
A: Right, right, right. Jeff Alexander, "post for 19 May 2003", 21 May 2003 - Q: 1. Can I use Akodo Rokuro`s ability (Reaction: Once per turn, before one of your Lion Clan Personalities bows due to another player's card effect, negate the bowing.) to cancel the use of Earthqueake?
A: Absolutely. Earthquake is a card, and its effect bows a Personality. Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 May 2003", 8 May 2003 - Q: Do House of the First Stone or Akodo Rokuro allow people to go home from an opponent's Suspended Terrain without bowing? It states to negate the bowing, not to prevent it. I guess what I'm asking is, are the words 'prevent' and 'negate' synonymous?
A: They are synonymous. Neither of these cards will stop the bowing from Suspended Terrain. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 April 2003", 30 Apr 2003 - Q: and throw -1C to Akodo Rokuro. he dies as a result of 0C. Can Matsu Hyun react and negate the destruction? if yes, is the attachment destroyed or kept?
A: She can Negate the destruction, but since none of the penalty effects end when Rokuro leaves play, he'll just die from 0 Chi again.
The attachments aren't destroyed due to losing their Personality unless Rokuro is destroyed. Chi death kills Personalities, not Units. Attached cards simply die when their Personality dies in that situation, per the rulebook. Martin Lund, "another series of questions", 25 Mar 2005
