Rules Q&A
- Q: If I use Sadahige's tactical ability to pick up Come One at a Time, does the terrain still stay in play or, due to Sadahige's wording, go away after I use the dueling action?
In general, if Sadahige does bring a terrain back into play, does it stay until end of battle (or destroyed via cards like Akodo's Grave)?
A: Sadahige's ability says to remove the card from the game. You remove it from the game as the last effect of his ability.
Play the Terrain as its Battle Action. Remove it from the game when it is successfully "played." Then resolve its effect by gaining the opportunity to issue an immediate challenge if there is only one Defender. Martin Lund, "Akodo Sadahige and Come One at a Time", 14 Apr 2005 - Q: Can I use sadahige's ability to play a formation in my discard pile?
A: No.
You have to put the Formation into play before you can use any of its Actions, unlike "normal" Action cards.
Putting a Formation into play is a Battle Action, but it is not any Action on the Formation card. Martin Lund, "Akodo Sadahige outmaneuvered by tactics and yasuko", 3 Apr 2005 - Q: Are the cards created by outmaneuvered by tactics permanent?
A: "Create" effects are on-shots that never wear off unless otherwise specified. See the Accumulated Ruling, "Effects" for a list of other similar effects like "Draw" and "Destroy."
Once you make the Personalities, they stick around until acted upon by another force (like PK). Martin Lund, "Akodo Sadahige outmaneuvered by tactics and yasuko", 3 Apr 2005 - Q: Can I use Ikoma yasuko's reaction to negate the destruction of my attacking personality if that personality died during battle resolution? If so what happened to that personality? Will he return home then? Thank you
A: Sure. He'll go home like any other Attacking Unit that's alive when the time comes to return to the Fief. Same thing goes for Hida Sozen. Martin Lund, "Akodo Sadahige outmaneuvered by tactics and yasuko", 3 Apr 2005 - Q: Is the action to play a terrain the one that's printed on the card, or (like Formations) is the action to play a terrain considered to be a rulebook action?
A: Card. Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige, again.", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: Can I play an Immediate Terrain via Sadahige's action?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige, again.", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: If so, do I resolve the action's effects and then remove the terrain from the game, or does the terrain remain in play until the end of the battle, at which point it gets removed from the game?
A: Destroyed / removed at normal time. Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige, again.", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: Can I play a Delayed Terrain via Sadahige's action?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige, again.", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: If so, do I resolve the action's effects immediately and then remove the terrain from the game, or does the terrain remain in play, resolve at the normal point for Delayed Terrains, and get removed from the game at the end of the battle?
A: Destroyed / removed at normal time. Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige, again.", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: For either type of terrain, if the answer is that the terrain is played, resolved and immediately removed from the game, can I play the terrain even if there is a terrain in play?
A: Moot. Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige, again.", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: You use Sadahige on a delayed terrain for the action printed on the terrain, Does the action resolve because you are using the terrain for one of it's actions (IE Sadahige's wording imply's that the action has to resolve to fulfill his remove from the game indication). So would the action be removed after the terrain resolved.
A: Sadahige removed terrains as soon as they are successfully played; this will be before effects occur for Delayed Terrains. (Fixed.) Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige Clarification", 2 Apr 2005 - Q: immediate terrains. Does the action of the immediate terrain kick in and then the terrain is removed from the game.
A: Again, once played, it will have an immediate effect and will then be removed. (Fixed.) Zen Faulkes, "Akodo Sadahige Clarification", 2 Apr 2005
