Rules Q&A
- Q: [I]f the trait "Shadowlands" isn't a trait of a Faction, then this card produces 4 gold for human Shadowland Pers., that have no other Faction traits?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 4 December 2003", 5 Dec 2003 - Q: Can I use Friendly Traveler Village to bring in Unaligned Shadowlands human personalities?
A: Yes. (Note: it's not because they have the "Unaligned" trait, it's because they lack any of the 14 traits defined as Faction alignments listed on rulebook pages 34-35.) Jeff Alexander, "post for 4 December 2002", 5 Dec 2002 - Q: Friendly Traveler Village reads:
Bow to produce 2 Gold. Bow to produce 4 Gold when paying for a human Personality who has no Faction traits.
The rulebook, under Factions (pgs 34-35) says:
The Shadowlands Faction does not have a trait that signifies alignment...
Does the FTV produce 4 gold for Human Shadowlands Personalities?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 13 December 2001", 14 Dec 2001 - Q: We thought this was the case as well, and that is how we played it at the pre release. But, looking through the Oni's Fury rulebook, under Shadowlands card (page 76):
"Unlike other Faction alignments, the Shadowlands trait does not signify alignment with the Shadowlands faction."
Which implies the Shadowlands trait is a Faction alignment. I'm sure this was unintentional, but perhaps it can be noted and changed in future rulebooks.
A: Yeah, I see the implication. I'll change that sentence next time. Until then, "Shadowlands" really, really isn't a Faction alignment. Jeff Alexander, "post for 13 December 2001", 14 Dec 2001
