Rules Q&A
- Q: If you have one timing trigger of "after" something ends in a sequence and another timing trigger of "before" the next thing in a sequence begins, the "after" trigger to the first thing in the sequence comes first.
A: Citation Martin Lund, "Mountains of the Phoenix vs. Furious Assault", 23 Apr 2008 - Q: One of my units is targeted by Furious Assault and does not move home. The unit is now marked for destruction at the end of the segment. If I attach a card to the personality after this point, will that card also be destroyed by the effect of Furious Assault?
Thanks!
A: Tentatively, it is destroyed by Furious Assault. Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault + attaching", 6 Apr 2008 - Q: If I target Moto Chagatai Exp. 4 with Furious Assault and he decides to move home, will he go or his trait will keep him in battle?
A: If it's another players action, he stays (and is promptly destroyed by Furious Assault). Traits are not optional. Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault vs. Moto Chagatai/Shiba Aikune", 24 Mar 2008 - Q: What If I target Shiba Aikune Exp. 3 while he's alone?
A: Same thing. The trait is not optional, and Furious Assault looks for an effect, not a decision. Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault vs. Moto Chagatai/Shiba Aikune", 24 Mar 2008 - Q: http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=66403
Does the "all-or-nothing" refer to the effects of the action itself, or it refers too to effects outside the card, such as Tsimaru's Negation. In the exampled case, the unit would not go home, nor bow, because of Tsimaru's negation, correct?
Thanks
A: The choice to apply the two effects is a package deal. If you chose to move, you must also chose to bow.
The resolution or application of those effects is separate. Moving can be negated without affecting the bowing. Bowing can be negated without affecting the moving. Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault & negating", 13 Mar 2008 - Q: If I control an oposed berseker at the battlefield and use Furious Assault on a oposing personality, when he make his choice to move home I negate the movement with Bayushi Tsimaru, do the personality bows due to the efects of Furious Assault?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Choices: "A choice involving multiple effects following a 'may' must be taken in an all-or-none fashion, unless they are phrased as alternatives to each other using 'or.'"
(Fixed.) Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault & negating", 13 Mar 2008 - Q: If during a battle that Hida Daizu (basic) is atacking one of my provinces I use Furious Assault with one of my personalities on him and my oponent chooses not to move him home. Later on that same batlle my army win and Daizu is killed on resolution, when he comes back into play by his trait will Furious Assault kill him since he stayed on the battle?
A: Order of battles (http://rules.l5r.com/Battles) goes:
Combat Segment. Furious Assault kills things here.
Resolution Segment. Being on the losing side kills things here. Effects that try to kill things in the Combat Segment, like Furious Assault, don't kill things here. Zen Faulkes, "Hida Daizu (basic) and Furious Assault", 23 Nov 2007 - Q: I play Furious Assault on Shiba Aikune (this game he was on his own, and so couldn't be moved by my card effects). He plays Weigh the Cost to move home. Does Furious Assault kill him?
A: Yes. "If it moved" (past tense) is referring only to the one action, not the entire combat segment. (Fixed.) Zen Faulkes, "Furious Assault", 14 Oct 2007
