Rules Q&A
- Q: Technically, if you use this ruling then it removes 4 corrupt holdings and black market from the SLH in Open. Geisha House, Copper, Stables, Gold, and Black Market all say "Bow and lose X honor to produce X gold."
A: Incorrect. Rules Archive, Specific cards, Holdings (E.g., Black Market): "Honor loss when producing gold is an effect, not a cost. (The card predates the uniform style indicating costs.)" Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 21 September 2003", 21 Sep 2003 - Q: I was using a Lion deck in a game with my next-door neighbor's Shadowlands deck. He had Corrupted Geisha House in play, and I started wondering, "Isn't that a bit redundant? Unless, of course, my definition of Geisha is wrong, in which case ignore this paragraph.
A: It's wrong. Very, very wrong. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 December 2002", 7 Dec 2002 - Q: I'm pretty sure I already know the answer is "no", but I'm gonna ask to make sure... If I bring into play two corrupted Geisha House and use two Rhetoric to give the honor loss to an opponent, can I bring into play Bayushi?
A: You're correct that the answer is "no". Rhetoric just moves the recipient, it doesn't change the source. Also, the MRP of Rhetoric won't redirect losses from traits. Brook Cunningham, "Oracle of the Void #rules", 18 Sep 2023
