Rules Q&A
- Q: Next question. Gift of the Water Dragon and Torrential Rain. Relevant text on Gift of the Water Dragon: Other players' card effects cannot bow cards in that unit or remove that unit from its new Province for the rest of the attack. Torrential Rain reads: Elemental Battle: Bow this Shugenja and destroy this Spell to end this battle without resolution. All units go home bowed. My question is: If my personality is under the effects of Gift of the Water Dragon and my opponent uses Torrential Rain, does my personality go home UNbowed?
A: All cards in that unit return to their controller's fief unbowed, since this is still the same attack. Jeff Alexander, "post for 1 July 2002", 2 Jul 2002 - Q: Can Flattery be played and take effect in a battle in which a unit was moved in via Gift of the Water Dragon?
A: Yes. Cards which end a battle prematurely do not technically send units home from a battle. Jeff Alexander, "post for 22 May 2002", 23 May 2002 - Q: How does Gift of the Water Dragon interact with Refugees and Torrential rain ? Thanks !
A: Refugees will not send the unit home or bow it, but still gives its controller the option of paying 1g for a Follower token.
It doesn't stop Torrential Rain at all. The battle still ends immediately, without resolution, and all units return to their controllers' homes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 12 April 2002", 13 Apr 2002
