Rules Q&A
- Q: b) Resolve Battle A, let Suiteiru eat one Voitagi and give the tokens to a Goblin Wizard or to Suiteiru himself.
A: Sure. You've still got Presence and Relevance. Targeting someone to eat them is enough to meet Relevance. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 and 25 October 2004", 27 Oct 2004 - Q: c) Resolve Battle A, let Suiteiru eat one Goblin Wizard and give the tokens to a Voitagi.
A: Yes again. Targeting Voitagi to give him tokens meets Relevance, as does creating Tokens in the current battle. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 and 25 October 2004", 27 Oct 2004 - Q: d) Resolve Battle A, let Suiteiru eat one Voitagi and give the tokens to a Goblin Wizard or to Suiteiru himself.
A: Is this a trick question? It is the same as question "b." The answer is the same. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 and 25 October 2004", 27 Oct 2004 - Q: If I bow a Goblin Wizard to use the Kiho Playing with Madness, may I use Iuchiban Sensei to straighten the peep?
Is a Maho Action considered performed before or after it resolves? In other words, does the Goblin Wizard become a Bloodspeaker in time to use the Sensei's Reaction?
A: "After taking / casting / playing / performing" all normally happen as soon as the Action is considered a successful play, with is after all Costs are paid and Reactions to such payment are made, but before the Action produces any effects, including the effect of making your card a Bloodspeaker Personality.
No Dice. Martin Lund, "Rules for 9 September 2004", 13 Sep 2004 - Q: Scenario:
Goblin Wizard in fief, Ratling Raider in the current battle.
Can You? Announce Casting of Jinkoku's Rage Bow Bloodspeakers Sanctum to allow the Ratling Raiders to cast the Kiho, giving it the Bloodspeaker trait Target Ratling Raider (now a valid target) with Jinkoku's Rage Bow Goblin Wizard to cast Kiho
A: Yes. Announce the Jigoku's Rage. React to "before" it by using the Sanctum to make the Ratling Raider a legal caster. Use any legal caster to cast Jigoku's Rage - in this case, Goblin Wizard. Martin Lund, "Rules for 5 July 2004", 7 Jul 2004 - Q: Now suppose that I'm in the same situation as described above, only now I've assigned a Goblin Wizard to defend the province. Can I play Rising Shadows and bow Shukumei in order to bow Maiko?
A: Yes. You have satisfied Presence by having Goblin Wizard in the battle. You satisfy Relevance by choosing Maiko (a card at the battle) as a target. Martin Lund, "Rules for 13 April 2004", 14 Apr 2004 - Q: I have a clarification questions for Obsidian and Jade. The last sentence reads:
"For the rest of the game, that Personality cannot assign or move into a battle with other Personalities, and other Personalities may not assign or move to a battle with that Personality."
Question 1: If I send one Goblin Wizard to my opponents Fate most province at what point is he considered in the battle? A. As soon as he assigns? B. After the assignment phase? C. Other?
Question 2: My reading of O&J is that it affects everyone's Personalities since it says "other Personalities". Thus your opponent could not assign or move his Personalities to a battle containing the O&B'd Personality. Is this the correct interpretation?
Depending on the answer to Question 1 this could be a very nasty card. Once O&J takes effect if your opponent could not assign Personalities against him or move unit into his battle once he was assigned. I know that is way too strong but the card text is very vague and I think requires some clarification.
A: Obsidian and Jade works just like the original Hida Yakamo oni. The Personality cannot assign to an army that already contains units, units cannot assign to an army that already contains it, and it cannot assign at the same time as other units. The card has no effect on how units are allowed to assign opposing it. Jeff Alexander, "post for 11 October 2002", 12 Oct 2002 - Q: Something just struck me...according to Rokugan custom, the family name comes first (i.e. Bayushi Tangen is from the Bayushi family). So, is Tsuno a family? Things like "Ogre Warrior" or "Goblin Wizard" are obviously just "titles" or "labels". If it was "Tsuno Pack Leader" or "Tsuno Chieftan" or something similar, I'd put it into the label category as well. But "Tsuno Kurushimi" sounds, to me, like a proper name.
A: "Tsuno" is a family name, yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 November 2001", 8 Nov 2001 - Q: I am playing Spawning Ground, and have a Forgotten Tomb in play. If I play a Goblin Wizard under the Forgotten Tomb, does it get to come right out, or does it wait until next turn? Reason I ask is that while it is under the Tomb, it is not technically in play, in my hand, or in any deck.
A: By MRP, the Spawning Ground affects all cards you own. You own that Goblin Wizard no matter where it is. It gets the bonus and comes out a turn later than normal. Jeff Alexander, "post for 30 October 2001", 31 Oct 2001 - Q: Can you put 0 force personality (e.g Goblin Wizard) under the Forgotten Tomb and straight out into play in the same Dynasty Phase ?
A: Absolutely. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for August 17th", 17 Aug 2001
