Rules Q&A
- Q: For reference, his ability reads Battle: Ranged 4 Attack. If the Ranged Attack destroyed a card, its owner loses 1 Honor.
Do created followers (e.g. those from Kyuden Hida XP, Nakanu Technique, Grateful Reward, etc.) count for the honor loss portion of Bayushi Higaonna's ability? I would think they do but I'm not sure because although they can be represented by cards, I don't know if they are cards as such. I'm probably overthinking it. Thanks much!
A: Per the CR on Created Cards, any effect that creates a card type creates a card of that type. So yes, Higoanna would trigger there. Jon Palmer, "Bayushi Higaonna's ability and created followers", 8 Aug 2012 - Q: I performed a series of actions last night in local playgroup that I feel fairly certain is legal, but still felt kind of weird - wanted to double check it before it possibly came up in an official tourney.
I declare an attack, assigning a couple Paragons to a battlefield; my opponent assigns defenders, and I choose to do that battlefield first. As a reaction, I play Grateful Reward on one of my Paragons, attach the follower, gain 2 honor, and draw a card. The card I draw is Sneak Attack. My opponent did not have a reaction to engaging, so I then played the Sneak Attack I just drew as a reaction to engaging. Is that legal? (Like I said, it seems like it, but it feels kinda weird taking a second reaction that I drew as a result of a reaction.)
A: A little weird, maybe, but totally legal.
The timing window of the start of engagement doesn't "close" until both players pass their opportunity to React to it. You react with Grateful Reward, the other player passes, and lookee! You have another Reaction! No reason you can't play it.
Enjoy the weirdness. Brook Cunningham, "Grateful Reward + drawing further reactions", 21 Mar 2012 - Q: What would happen in this situation? Player A assigns with Shosuro Toson Xp2 and 2 Naval personalities, Player b Defends with one Paragon person. After engaging player A declares Naval Invasion with one of the naval personalities, Player B then uses Grateful Reward and attaches a follower, Player A then uses Shosuro Toson Xp2's reaction. Who must perfom the first action?

Naval Invasion: Reaction: After engaging, once per battle, if you are the Attacker and your current army has more Naval cards than the side oppos¬ing it, choose your performing Naval Personality: You have the first opportunity to take a Battle action, which he must perform.
Shosuro Toson Xp2 Reaction: After engaging at Toson's battlefield: Discard a card from the current battlefield's province. If this discarded a Personality, you have the first oppurtunity to take a Battle action in this battle, which must be performed by Toson
Grateful Reward: Reaction: After engaging, choose your performing Samurai at the current battlefield: Create a 1F Ashigaru • Cavalry Follower and attach it to him. If he is a Paragon, gain 2 Honor and draw a card.
A: The Naval Personality. Similar to your other question, in this case Toson is attempting to stack the ability to go first with the already existing ability granted by Naval, and therefore the effect (and its differing restrictions) fails.
However, since Toson is insistent on being a pain in the butt, please reference here for a situation with a slightly different outcome. Jon Palmer, "Naval and Shosuro Toson Xp2", 20 Feb 2012
