Rules Q&A
- Q: Assuming I have a tactician at the current battle who has not yet used a tactical ability as well as the terrain Hazardous Terrain in play:
It is my turn to act and I play Superior Strategist. It grants an additional action to play the card I search for. Does Hazardous Ground split that into two actions? Are both of those actions restricted to only being used to play one of the Battle abilities on the card I searched for, forcing me to pass for the second action? Or could the second action be anything I wanted?
Superior Strategist Tactical Battle: Target one of your Tacticians: Search your Fate deck for an Action card with a Battle ability. You may take an additional Battle action to use one of its Battle abilities; if you do not, discard it. Hazardous Ground You may only play this card if you have a Samurai in this battle with a Chi of 4 or more. Battle Terrain: This terrain takes effect as soon as it is played. Beginning with your next opportunity to perform an action, whenever it is your turn to perform an action in this battle, you may perform two action instead of one.
A: Hazardous Ground gives you one additional action off Superior Strategist and one additional action off the additional action given by Superior Strategist.
Unlike Superior Strategist, Hazardous Ground does not add any restrictions to the actions it grants. You may announce any action you could normally announce. Alex Jones, "Hazardous Ground and granted actions", 2 May 2008 - Q: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=67578
Clarification: 5 actions after Mushin is played, so six consecutive actions total with Mushin being the first, correct?
A: I think people have different ideas as to what "counts" towards a total. Apparently I have to do the full break-down.
Hazardous Ground in play.
Player's turn to take an action, which Hazardous Ground makes two action opportunities; let's call them A and B.
Opportunity A is used to play Mushin, which creates two more opportunities to play actions; let's call them A1 and A2.
Hazardous Ground affects A1, creating two opportunities; let's call them A1a and A1b.
Hazardous Ground affects A2, creating two opportunities; let's call them A2a and A2b.
To sum up: Actions A (Mushin), A1a, A1b, A2a, A2b, and B. Zen Faulkes, "Hazardous Ground and granted actions", 29 Apr 2008 - Q: concerning: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=67578&view=unread#unread
if you play mushin normally you play 3 consecutive actions: first being mushin.
Under the effects of the Hazardous Ground shouldn't that say that you have actions opportunity (first one being still mushin)
so should you not have 5 consecutive actions and not 4 as in the OP?
A: Ah, right. Thanks for the catch. Zen Faulkes, "Hazardous Ground and granted actions", 29 Apr 2008 - Q: I have previously played Hazardous Ground at the current battle. I then play Mushin. Would each of the actions granted by Mushin be affected by Hazardous Ground's text, allowing me to perform 4 actions in total?
A: Yes. Rules Archive (http://www.legendofthefiverings.com/rul ... tion_cards) entry for Hazardous Ground: "Applies to extra actions granted by such cards." Zen Faulkes, "Hazardous Ground and granted actions", 28 Apr 2008 - Q: Would the same answer be true for other similar actions such as Speed of the Plains?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Hazardous Ground and granted actions", 28 Apr 2008
