- Duels in Rokugan are ritualized. The challenge, the terms, and the ceremony are all subject to centuries of tradition. One tradition is the privilege of having another to stand in the place of the challenged, when circumstances are right.

Rulings
- Does not redirect the action causing the duel. [JA, 10 October 2001] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 20
Rules Q&A
- Q: He's Mine!
A: Targeted by rule #4. Targets the things it affects: both your Personalities. Jeff Alexander, "post for 22 August 2002", 23 Aug 2002 - Q: Can a Veteran Samurai say "He's Mine"?
A: No. See two paragraphs up. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 April 2002", 9 Apr 2002 - Q: If your Samurai (the one who entered the duel via He's Mine!) has a Torii Tattoo and used its ability to cancel all other reactions, would the He's Mine! be canceled? Or does the Torii Tattoo only cancel reactions that have not happened yet?
A: It would cancel He's Mine! too, since that was a Reaction played during the duel (by virtue of its wording: it's played when a Personality enters a duel, ergo the duel is underway). All effects of He's Mine! which have not yet resolved don't happen, so the new Personality does not enter the duel and does not bow when the duel ends, but the bowing of the Personality you already have in the duel already happened and does not get undone. Jeff Alexander, "post for 13 March 2002", 14 Mar 2002 - Q: If one of my personalities issues a duel via Iaijutsu Art with lower Chi than the person challenged (as per card text), can I play He's Mine as a reaction and move a higher Chi personality into the duel instead?
A: Yes. He's Mine! is not a redirection. Iaijutsu Art has already been played and is half-way through resolving. You may bring someone into the duel that you could not have targeted in the first place. Jeff Alexander, "post for 12 March 2002", 13 Mar 2002 - Q: What happens if I play He's Mine on my challenger? Who leaves play - the original personality or the one who replaced him?
A: The Personality you originally nominated as your "champion". Jeff Alexander, "post for 26 November 2001", 27 Nov 2001 - Q: Finally, with the new wording on He's Mine!, can you challenge someone to an Iaijutsu Art, then He's Mine1 in a much higher chi Samurai?
Yes.
I hate to 'tag-team' you like this, Jeff, but why is this allowed and the Shosuro Gardens cannot perform a similar move?
A: Because Shosuro Gardens is a retargeting effect and He's Mine! isn't. Jeff Alexander, "post for 9 October 2001", 9 Oct 2001 - Q: Finally, with the new wording on He's Mine!, can you challenge someone to an Iaijutsu Art, then He's Mine1 in a much higher chi Samurai?
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 October 2001", 8 Oct 2001
