Rules Q&A
- Q: How does Hida Amoro experienced 2 work with being face down. His trait gives him a +2 gold cost, then shuffles him back into the dynasty deck; but now, becoming face down would basically erase all memory of being given the extra gold cost. Am I right in believing that he will cost his base cost due to becoming face down? Or am I completely wrong?
A: Currently, yes, he would fail to increase his own cost due to the Tracking Rule.
This is obviously not how the card SHOULD work, but my personal efforts to correct the problem have been sidetracked of late. Sorting out Rules issues for the current format take precedence.
However, I have not forgotten the Legacy format entirely, and a fix may yet be forthcoming. Brook Cunningham, "Hida Amoro Exp2 and Face down", 29 Nov 2008 - Q: I win a battle by only 1 Force, and (using A Moment of Truth) search my deck for Hida Amoro (xp 1 or 2, neither of whom has the non-xp's trait). Does my Hida Amoro die because he had the trait when the battle ended, or can I overlay him before checking to see if he dies and save him?
A: Force is checked at battle resolution (i.e., when you count to see who has more force), which is before destruction (the trigger for A Moment of Truth). He'll die. Zen Faulkes, "Hida Amoro and A Moment of Truth", 12 Sep 2007
