Rulings
- Is both a Crab and a Naga unit in his army, so his Battle action will always give him at least +2F. Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 100
- Erratum: Reads, "Hida Yakamo 4F/4C -HR 7G 0PH Crab Clan Oni. Shadowlands. Nonhuman. No Followers. May not Focus. Oni gains a 1F/1C bonus for each Crab Personlity you control. Crab Oni cannot be committed to an Attacking or Defending Army that has other units. No other unit may be committed to the Oni's Army." [MRP, Obsidian Edition] Rules Archive, November 11, 2006, p. 115
- May join other units by moving into battle. Rules Archive, November 11, 2006, p. 115
- Cannot join other units by effects that "assign" or "commit" units during the Maneuvers Segment, before battle actions start. [Extension from Dark Oracle of Water, DW, 9/10/96] Rules Archive, November 11, 2006, p. 115
- Cannot assign with the Experienced Crab Clan Oni, because both cards' restrictions must be obeyed. [DW, 12/9/96] Rules Archive, November 11, 2006, p. 115
- Q: If I'm playing The New Akasha and I turn up a dual-aligned Crab/Naga Personality, am I allowed to forego his honor and buy him for 2g less, or would that be a cost reduction and be prohibited by the clause about Crabs not having their costs reduced further? A: You can pay 2g less. You're not reducing the cost, you're only paying part of it. You can buy Hida Yakamo Exp3 for 12g if you don't want to gain his honor. The Imperial Herald, Issue 13, p. 34
- Q: Speaking of Yakamo, he has the printed Naga trait now, so he's Nonhuman, right? A: Right. The Imperial Herald, Issue 13, p. 34
Rules Q&A
- Q: Gold Edition still has a fair number of mid-range Personalities (you may recognize them as the ones people point out are "too good" for Gold: Uso, Rekai, Rohiteki), and we're seriously examining Alpha to make sure there are still people between the Morito Tokei and Hida Yakamo Exp3 power levels.
Does that mean their gold cost are being increased for Gold?
A: Considering I listed them as examples to assuage someone's fears that the Four Winds storyline environment will have no useful boxable personalities, that's a good indication that their costs won't be increased. (Of course, "indication" isn't the same as "proof"...) Jeff Alexander, "replies to the 22 May digest", 31 May 2001 - Q: I just recently got my hands on an experienced 3 Hida Yakamo and I am a bit confused about his battle action. it says he gains a force bonus equal to twice the number of crab or naga personalities which ever is lower. now my question is what if you don't run any naga's? would he not gain any force bonus because there is nothing to double or would he get a force bonus equal to the crabs because no naga's exist. I am wondering because we have a tournament coming up and if i use his ability i know that at least two of the spazz's i play with will be jerks about the rule. the store GM said he would gain the force bonus but the players of course won't go for it. so yeah could someone please help me out with this one?
and another question about Hiruma Aki experienced, his ability says he can destroy 1 or more followers with force equal to or less than his force or gold cost. does this mean if someone is making followers that have no gold cost i can destroy them all? or no, and also do i add up their gold cost/force and then compare it to his or do i do it one at a time?
A: Your rules question has been moved to the Rules Forum. Roger Giner-Sorolla, "Question About Yakamo and Aki", 14 May 2008
