  Further, can I assign a unicorn clan personality as a defender, since the assignment of defender happens after the assignment of attacker in Ambush?
  Fundamentally, I’m trying to figure out if “the Defender is Crab Clan” refers to the personality or the player and if there are any timing tricks to be aware of

  correct links I think there's no separate Infantry and Cavalry assignment while playing Ambush. Ambush doesn't create Attack Phase, it creates battlefield and battle, but without whole Infantry Maneuvers Segment and Cavalry Maneuvers Segment.
