Rules Q&A
- Q: Hi,
Hida Sosuke XP is attacking at the current battlefield. My first battle action is his base battle action. Assuming I control a Ring, I use Always Ready from my discard pile. - Hida Sosuke can perform that action even if he didn't perform Hida's Avalanche this turn: ok. - How about the "up to two" other personalities. As Always Ready "may target a Personality ignoring its restrictions", does it mean : => If I target a Personality, who has already been in an attacking army during Resolution during the same attack phase, he will move to Hida Sosuke's Attacking army?
Card texts : Hida Sosuke XP Battle: Take an additional action to play a Strategy from your discard pile for one of its Heroic Battle. If you control any Rings, the action may target a Personality ignoring its restrictions. After it resolves, remove the Strategy from the game.
Always Ready: Battle: Choose your performing Personality who has performed Hida's Avalanche's action this turn and target zero to two of your units at other locations: Move them to the current battlefield. Straighten them. Give the performer a Force bonus equal to his Yu. Actions may target him as if he has been targeted by Shell of Stone's ability this turn.
Thanks in advance, Regards, Rémi.
A: 1. Yes, you may use Always Ready even if Sosuke did not perform Hida's Avalanche this turn (that's kinda what he was designed for, really).
2. You may target a Personality who has already been in battle resolution. However, the Second-Battle Rule is not a restriction. It will simply cause the unit's movement to fail - you're still free to target him! Jon Palmer, "Hida Sosuke XP vs Rulebook restrictions", 27 Mar 2012 - Q: Writ of Command allows you to assign a dishonored personality into your army, but does not say you explicitly gain control of them.
If this is the case, can you:
A) target them with battle actions like Hida's Avalanche?
B) Use abilities on the personality's card or unit?
C) Take Loyal personailities since they are not joining you?
Grammatically, one would assume that any personality in your army is under your control, but we all know grammar means nothing in this game. All of these questons would be moot if you did temporarily gain control of the personailty.
A: Rules Archive, Writ of Command (not to mention numerous posts in the forum that can be found with the forum search function): "The unit does not switch control." Please do a little legwork before posting questions. Zen Faulkes, "Writ of Command control issue", 7 May 2006
