Rules Q&A
- Q: Hiruma Aya Text Crab Clan • Samurai • Scout Recon Limited: Target a province. Your Personalities can assign to its battlefield during Cavalry Maneuvers this turn.
Can (from rules wiki, not a complete extract) Text that says something “can” happen overrides any rules mentioned in the text that prohibiting that thing from happening; for example, “He can assign even if bowed.”
"Can" does not break rules that it doesn't specifically refer to; for example “Your target Infantry Personality can assign in Cavalry Maneuvers” does not allow a bowed unit to assign.
Does the 'can' wording allow personalities to assign in the cavalry phase even if they assigned already in the infantry phase? Does it bypass the restriction that personalities assign from home to a battlefield?
Thanks.
A: Unless it specifically says it waives that restriction, it does not. You cannot reassign people you have assigned in the infantry maneuvers segment during the Cavalry manuevers segment with the action on Hiruma Aya. Dan Jacobson, "Hiruma Aya", 18 Dec 2008 - Q: If I use Hiruma Aya's ability on a province, can I assign personalities to that battlefield during cavalry maneuvers who have infantry followers?
A: Yes.
(But yes, it would have been better to say "units.") Zen Faulkes, "Hiruma Aya and infantry followers", 1 Dec 2007
