Rulings
- The original player of this card loses the honor when the targeted Personality is destroyed. This may not be the controller of the Personality at that time. [RD, 22 September 1996] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 20
- Causes no honor loss if the targeted Personality is removed from play without being destroyed (e.g., shuffled back into the deck). [JA, 16 October 2000] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 20
Rules Q&A
- Q: Is His Most Favored a political action?
A: No (Card text). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 December 2003", 12 Dec 2003 - Q: When did His Most Favored leave play though?
A: When the targeted Personality leaves play -- like the card says. That includes being shuffled into decks. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 23 June 2001", 25 Jun 2001 - Q: This has probably been answered before, so I apologize in advance. I checked the rulings archive on Zen's page and did not see the answer under Seppun Sensei that made sense to me (sorry I'm slow).
My opponent uses the Seppun Sensei and controls the favor.
He plays His Most Favored on a personality.
I kill the personality. Can my opponent use the Imperial Favor to negate the loss? Why or why not? Can this reasoning be added to the archive?
A: Your opponent cannot. Preventing/negating an honor loss is a change. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 12-13 February 2001", 16 Feb 2001 - Q: 2. Oni no Pekkle & His Most Favored (an Oni being your tie to the imperial line, hmmm........)
I think I know the answer to this one but it doesn't hurt to ask, If the Oni is His Most Favored then destroyed, is the honor loss considered two lots of 10 or one lot of 20 (for winds truth purposes, what else??)? At a guess I'd say two lots of 10.
A: Two seperate 10 point losses. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for", 12 Jan 2001 - Q: Regarding this ruling:

Does the same principle apply to His Most Favored? If the personality that has HMF dies do I not lose 10 honor?

Oni No Pekkle:

A: No, the same principle doesn't apply.
In the cited ruling, you don't lose the honor because the trait itself that would cause the loss is removed from the game (ON the Pekkle) before it can trigger. Brook Cunningham, "His Most Favored/Otomo Sensei", 24 Oct 2013
