Rules Q&A
- Q: Can Hisao be bowed by a Discretionary Valor focused in a duel?
A: No. Focus effects are card effects, so Hisao's trait will negate bowing caused by them. Alex Jones, "Hisao and Discretionary Valor", 7 May 2011 - Q: If Hisao is at the a battlefield with Imperial Outpost attached, may I choose him to bow (and have it negated) or does the effect of the Imperial Outpost imply I must choose a unit and actually bow it?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Effects#Choices: "A choice may be made even if its consequences would be negated, prevented, or otherwise fail due to lack of suitable things to affect."
Choose Hisao if you want. Zen Faulkes, "Imperial Outpost and Hisao", 16 Jul 2010
