Rules Q&A
- Q: Amazing Feat Text:
When you create a personality with Amazing Feat can that personality trigger entering play effects (reactions) that were copied?
For example, if I use Amazing Feat targeting Kitsune Tokuro, do I get to create a Bear when it enters play?
A: Like all Created Cards, the Personality created by Amazing Feat enters play after it is created. If the card is created with a Reaction that triggers after it enters play, that Reaction may indeed be taken after the card enters play. Alex Jones, "Amazing Feat & Entering-Play", 9 Jan 2013 - Q: Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to copy a loyal personality with Amazing Feat. My first reaction would have been to say no, but then I thought a little bit about it and found a timing problem.
Here's the reasoning: I'm a Crane player, I bow my performing artisan and target Shosuro Ritoru who is a legal target since he isn't unique.
If I follow Amazing Feat text, I create a personnality "with the same base Force, Chi, Personal Honor and keywords".
Among those keyword is loyal which normally avoid me to control a personnality who is not affiliated to my clan "either by bringing into play or by changing control". So it's fair to assume that for this trait to work it has to be written on a card in or out of play
But the trick here is that the loyal trait only exist when the personnality has already been created and is therefore already controlled.
What do you think, can I copy a loyal personality with Amazing Feat or not ?
Amazing Feat Limited: Bow your performing Artisan Personality and target a non-Unique Personality: Create a Personality with the same base Force, Chi, Personal Honor and keywords as the targeted Personality, who permanently copies all his base abilities except those that copy abilities. Remove the created Personality from the game when your next turn begins.
Loyal
A Personality with the Loyal keyword will not become controlled by a player who does not share a Clan alignment with that Personality - either by bringing into play or by changing control.
A: You may target a Loyal Personality with Amazing Feat, and the created Personality will copy the Loyal keyword. However, after you create the Personality, you must bring him into play, and that will fail if you do not share a Clan Alignment with him.
See Created cards: Some effects may create cards in the course of the game. ... They go through the normal steps of entering play when created. Alex Jones, "Amazing Feat vs. loyal", 25 Jun 2012 - Q: If I were to create a personality by way of Amazing Feat, Recruitment Officer, or Fruitless Search and they are dishonorable when their time limit runs out, do I lose honor?
A: Dishonourable created Personalities who are destroyed lose you honour.
Dishonourable Personalities who are removed from the game, or who are discarded or put in a province or deck, do not. Alex Jones, "Temporary personalities and dishonor", 13 Feb 2012 - Q: Does Amazing Feat copy traits on the personality it creates?
A: Amazing Feat copies "Keywords" (card text). Keywords are not traits. See http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Card_features#Text_box Zen Faulkes, "Creating cards = Entering play?", 22 May 2011 - Q: Can you gain honor with Amazing Feat + Chusa Kanashi?
A: No. for reason given. If, however, an effect did copy the card's trait, you would gain honor. Zen Faulkes, "Creating cards = Entering play?", 22 May 2011
