Rules Q&A
- Q: Political Limited: Target an Honorable Samurai or Courtier Personality you control and another player. Give control of the Personality to that player. Gain Honor equal to the target's Chi.
Giving control of the personality is an effect, not a cost. Can you therefore target a loyal personality with this card, so the personality does not change controllers, but you still gain the honor?
A: Yes.
It was used a lot with Togashi Satsu exp4....stupid free 7 honor Dan Jacobson, "Honored Hostage", 16 Apr 2009 - Q: Still i think {Honored Hostage] should fail If You target Loyal personality! // tho it doesent matter in this instance but i wanted to sound at last a lil bit as Kato /
A: The change of control fails, but the Honor gain doesn't. That was a combo back in the day. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 1 Nov 2023
