Rulings
- Any increase in a stat is a bonus. May react to focussing (though note that Wayan's reaction is only usable during battle). [DW] Wayan's controller will not know how much of a bonus he got until the focus is revealed. The duration of Wayan's bonus is the same as the one he's copying. Does not receive a double bonus while The Courage of Osano-Wo is in effect. The token is not providing the bonus. Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 31
Rules Q&A
- Q: I have a question in a similar line. Can Toritaka Kitao(can't spell diamond legal guy off top off my head.)attach the scimitar and still be honorable since he cancels the action dishonoring him not the attachment?
A: Yes, Hiruma Ashihei can successfully attach Senpet Scimitar. None of the effects of the Action dishonor him. The trait of the card being attached dishonors him, and that's not part of any Action.
Same deal with Force Bonuses from Items when you attach them - they don't qualify as "A Force Bonus from an Action." Martin Lund, "Rules for 1 May 2004", 4 Jun 2004 - Q: Related card text:
Hoshi Wayan exp: Limited: Once per turn, place a Tattoo token on Wayan. Reaction: After Wayan gains a Force bonus, destroy a Tattoo token on him to raise the bonus by his Personal Honor.
Warriors of the Great Climb: The Warriors of the Great Climb gain +2F for each of their Personality's Tattoos.
Do each of Wayan's Tattoo tokens count for another +2F bonus on the Warriors?
A: No. The Keyword Rule applies to cards only. Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 April 2003", 9 Apr 2003 - Q: Following up on the Hoshi Wayan discussion:
Jeff, if Double Chi causes a focus to add twice, is this treated as two separate chi bonuses? If so, are both bonuses created when the focus is played or is one generated when played and the other generated when the focus is revealed?
A: Yes. When played. (There is no reason I can think of to apply the second bonus at a different time from the first one.) Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 October 2002", 30 Oct 2002 - Q: The question becomes... How do the mechanics to this [Hoshi Wayan and focusing] work?
1) Wayan reacts as each card is focused, and you don't know what his bonus is until a strike is declared
A: Ding! Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for December 27th", 27 Dec 2000 - Q: They are all separate because they are immediately added at the time they are focused. Which is why Hoshi Wayan can copy them.
Is that an official ruling, that they are *immediately* added?
A: Yup. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for December 27th", 27 Dec 2000
