Rulings
- Erratum: Reads, "Ide Tadaji 0F/1C 10HR 7G 3PH Unicorn Clan Diplomat. Unique. Tadaji will not issue challenges and cannot be assigned to battle. Political Reaction: When the Imperial Favor is used, bow Tadaji to negate its effect." [MRP, Imperial Herald promo] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 103
- Erratum: Added: special ability now has the Political trait. Text Change & Errata List, February 15, 2000, p. 16
- Erratum: Changed: now may only not be assigned to attack or defend, rather than not being allowed to attack or defend at all. Text Change & Errata List, February 15, 2000, p. 16
- Clarified: only negates the effects of one use of the Favor, not all uses for the rest of the turn. Text Change & Errata List, February 15, 2000, p. 16
Rules Q&A
- Q: Ruling Request: Can Ide Tadaji bow to prevent the use of the imperial favor during a battle in which he is not present.
A: Yes. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 20-21 February 2001", 24 Feb 2001 - Q: Hello Zen, this ruling from today and the previous Acc Rulings below seem to be in contradiction. Can you explain them please?
I have a whole list of similar effects I would rather have principle to apply than list over 50 cards for you to rule on.
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers
UK Ronin
A: You don't agree with the ruling. I understand. No further posts on this topic, please. Zen Faulkes, "Ide Tadaji part 3", 25 Jun 2007 - Q: Hello Zen, in this question you say that Ide Tadaji can negate the paying of a cost of "discard the Imperial Favor". However Ide Tadaji only negates the 'effects' of the discarded favor, this harkens from a time when the favor itself had abilities to choose from. In fact Ide Tadaji states that the favor is still discarded and so would count for anything that looks for the favor to have been discarded.
So how does negating the 'effects' of the favor, negate the discarding of it? The favor is still discarded, specifically in this case as per ide Tadaji's own text.
Ide Tadaji's text for quick reference:
Are you making a ruling that costs are now effects?
Cheers

A: There is no general ruling from this.
There is no clean way to port cards referring to the original Imperial Favor and associated rules to the current rules. They'll just have to be handled one a case by case basis. Zen Faulkes, "Ide Tadaji follow-on", 25 Jun 2007 - Q: Hantei Genji and Hantei the 38th both have additional costs that can involve discarding the favor. Can Ide Tadaji use his reaction to negate the paying of that cost?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Ide Tadaji vs. Hantei Genji and Hantei the 38th", 24 Jun 2007
