Rules Q&A
- Q: Can anyone tell me where on the Web the -current- information for the Imperial Asembly is?
A: http://shop.alderac.com/l5r_ccg.html Jeff Alexander, "post for 20 September 2002", 21 Sep 2002 - Q: Ok here's something I'd meant to ask a while ago...
According to Imperial Assembly options you can sign up as ronin. Additionally players that were aligned to various removed factions were shifted into the ronin status for their memberships.
While somewhat unsettling, I can deal with (playing TA I was pretty much ronin already).
When I went down to the IL kotei I asked to be signed up as ronin, I was informed that I could not do so. I was mildly irratated, but it wasn't a big deal. I ended up being signed up as lion with kaneka though I wanted to be ronin with keneka since it was a story event.
A: Someone was misinformed. "Ronin" is a valid choice for Imperial Assembly affiliation. Jeff Alexander, "post for 31 July 2002", 1 Aug 2002 - Q: Hi everybody
I don't know if this has been discussed already but... sorry if it already has
I received today my Imperial Assembly. In it was Dark Oracle of Fire
Text of the card reads:
Dark Oracle of Fire - 5G Retainer - Experienced - Unique - Shadowlands Elemental Reaction: Bow the Dark Oracle of Fire when one of your target personalities enters a duel to force the facing Personality's controller to discard a card of his or her choice every time your personality focuses in this duel. Lose 4 Honor. This loss may not be copied or modified.
Shouldn't it read something like:
Retainer - Experienced - Shadowlands - Unique Elemental Reaction: Bow this card when one of your Personalities enters a duel to have the opposing Personality's player discard a card of their choice each time your Personality plays a focus. [Extracted from l5rsearch.com]
Who's wrong, me, the card, the weather man, bill gates, the universe? (I give away, usually, it's me, but who knows...)
A: Let me get this straight. You're holding the actual, physical card in your hand, and its text differs from an online spoiler, and you're asking me which is the true text on the card?
If that's really what you're asking...
The card is right.
(To answer the inevitable followup question, no, there aren't two versions of it.) Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 May 2002", 8 May 2002 - Q: How do you figure out if you're still in the assembly or not?
A: You send email to Steve Lepore, aegsteve@earthlink.net . I imagine your assembly number will be a big help. Jeff Alexander, "post for 25 March 2002", 26 Mar 2002 - Q: I am thinking to be a member of Imperial Assembly. But I want to keep it as secret to my wife. ^^ So the only choice of shipping is my company. My question is how it is shipped. Is it wrapped? I mean, can anybody see the cover page? I think that the bloody picture may offend somebody in mailing room. ^^
A: It's wrapped in clear plastic. Better hope no one there is offended by samurai. Jeff Alexander, "post for 9 October 2001", 9 Oct 2001 - Q: Imperial Assembly (promo)
Reaction: before a player takes a polotical action, bow the imperial assembly to prevent the action from being canceled and any of it's effects from being negated.
Can I use this card to prevent other players from lobbying against me when bowing for favor? Does using it's abilitry affect lobbying in any manner? ie gift giving, vernerable stature, perfect gift, etc.....
A: It won't make your lobby attempt immune to failure from not having enough honor to take the Favor, and it prohibits neither gift-giving nor petitioning against you.
Venerable Stature would still be legal as it doesn't even make the lobbying less likely to succeed. The Perfect Gift is clearly illegal because it says "the lobbying attempt is cancelled". Jeff Alexander, "replies to 15 June", 20 Jun 2001
