Rules Q&A
- Q: Glory of the Shogun Until the game ends, equipping is a Battle/Open action (for all players), and after the first time each turn each player attaches a card with a base Gold Cost of 5 or more from his hand, that player may draw a card.
Indecision Reaction: After an action resolves, if its player has resolved two or more actions which put cards into his hand this phase: He discards two cards.
The Scorpion Wall is Finished Until the game ends, other players' actions will not discard cards from your hand, and if a player has resolved two actions that put cards in his hand in one phase, no more cards will be put into his hand that phase.
(Emphasis mine)
As my first Limited action I attach a card from hand with 5+GC to my personality and draw a card. Have I put a card in hand from an action for the sake of indecision/Scorpion wall?
I've had judges at tournaments say that it has been ruled both ways online and yet I couldn't find the ruling anywhere.
Thanks in advance.
A: The ongoing, indefinite conditional effect from Glory of the Shogun is what put the card in your hand, not whatever action attached the card that activated said effect.
Therefore, drawing a card from it does NOT count toward Indecision or The Scorpion Wall is Finished.
And no, it's never been ruled here any differently than that. Brook Cunningham, "Glory of the Shogun + Indecision/Scorpion Wall", 16 Sep 2012 - Q: With regards to http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=98582
In this scenario, wouldn't the Phoenix player have only played 1 action which put cards into his hand? The action "which" put cards in his hand was ring of the void's action, but he drew two cards "from" ring of the void and honesty of the phoenix. Thank you for the clarification.
A: I'm counting at least two actions that have put cards into your opponent's hand: Ring of the Void and each copy of Honesty of the Phoenix.
The card draw from Honesty of the Phoenix happens after Ring of the Void resolves, but it's from Honesty, since that's where the card draw effect is printed. Alex Jones, "Honesty of the phoenix Vrs Indecision", 21 Jun 2012 - Q: Indecision Reaction: After an action resolves, if its player has resolved two or more actions which put cards into his hand this phase: He discards two cards
Honesty of the Phoenix Battle/Open: Choose your performing unbowed Phoenix Clan Personality: Name a card. After the next resolution this turn of your action from another Strategy or Ring with that title, draw a card, and choose a player, who discards a card.
if i was to use Honesty several times nameing Ring of Void, then discarded or bowed the ring, am i right in thinking that my opponent can not play indecision as the timeing trigger has already passed?
A: After the resolution of Ring of the Void's action, your apply the delayed effects from the Honesty of the Phoenix, and draw cards. Then, players make take Reactions "After an action resolves", such as Indecision. By this point, you have "resolved two or more actions which put cards into [your] hand this phase", so Indecision's condition is met and as well as its trigger having occurred, so Indecision may be played, and you discard two cards.
See the Timing Sequence. Alex Jones, "Honesty of the phoenix Vrs Indecision", 20 Jun 2012 - Q: My opponent draws a card with Peddler (for example), then plays A Game of Dice. Can I respond with Indecision after they draw the cards from AGoD at the end of their turn?
A Game of Dice:Limited: Draw two additional cards during your next End Phase.
Indecision:Reaction: After an action resolves, if its player has resolved two or more actions which put cards into his hand this phase: He discards two cards.
In other words, does Indecision trigger from the actions being played, or the cards being drawn?
Many thanks!
A: No, because, as I explained above, Indecision only triggers if the card draws are in the same phase. Alex Jones, "Indecision, Scorpion Wall, Sincerity of the Dragon", 18 May 2012 - Q: Just to check my own understanding of this topic - If I resolve one Sincerity of the Dragon in my Limited phase naming four, play another Sincerity naming 3 and then move to my attack phase, If I react to engaging with Sneak Attack (thus triggering Sincerity of the Dragon's delayed effect), will this count towards Indecision/The Scorpion Wall Is Finished?
A: Indecision is clear: After an action resolves, if its player has, in this phase, put cards into his hand as the result of at least two actions - which may have resolved at any time this turn or on any previous turn - then you may react with Indecision.
The Scorpion Wall is Finished is Under discussion. Alex Jones, "Indecision, Scorpion Wall, Sincerity of the Dragon", 14 May 2012 - Q: here it is stated that Sincerity of the Dragon will count for Indecision and and I kind of see that why because the trigger is after any action so they could react to some other action that has nothing to do with card draw. But after Sincerity of the Dragon resolves it doesn't put any cards into the players hand so I don't see why The Scorpion Wall is Finished would count Sincerity if the Dragon for the card draw part.
I apologize if I'm being a little dense but I honestly don't see why The Scorpion Wall is Finished works that way.
A: The conditions on The Scorpion Wall is Finished don't stipulate that the action needs to have put the cards in your hand before or at the time of its resolution, only that the player has "resolved" it, and that it "put cards cards in his hand".
After one draws the cards from the delayed effect of Sincerity of the Dragon, it will at that time be both a) an action that the player resolved, and b) an action that put cards in his hand, and therefore qualify. Brook Cunningham, "Indecision, Scorpion Wall, Sincerity of the Dragon", 14 May 2012
