Rules Q&A
- Q: 1) I have a Blacksmith in play with no Iron Mines. My opponent has no Iron Mines, but has 1 Corrupt Iron Mine. How much gold will my Blacksmith produce? 1 or 2?
A: 1: 2 base, minus 1 from the one corrupt mine. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 May 2003", 6 May 2003 - Q: The follower card JESTER reads as follows:
Political Reaction: Bow Jester before a player loses Honor due to one of his or her own cards or actions to double the loss. All players may use this ability.
There is a disagreement among the players in my area on how this is supposed to work.
Some believe that if the follower is in plan in any players fife, then any player (except Shadowlands) can bow the Jester for its reaction. For example, Player A has a Jester in play. Player C brings out a Corrupt Iron Mine. By this logic Player B could bow Player A's Jester to causing Player C to double his honor loss.
A: This is correct. "All players may use this ability," as opposed to just its controller, which is the normal rule. Jeff Alexander, "post for 10 January 2003", 11 Jan 2003 - Q: Does the reduction in cost from multiple copies of Yasuki Makoto in play stack? Would it be possible to purchase an Iron Mine for 0?
Yasuki Makoto
A: Yes, to both questions. Brook Cunningham, "Yasuki Makoto", 22 May 2012 - Q: Are clan holdings like Iron Mine legal in Onyx or SE? They don't appear on Oracle with those formats selected but maybe they're concidered standard/fixed?
A: No. They were removed by Design from Onyx back in 2015. Brook Cunningham, "Onyx Lives #rules-questions", 23 Feb 2026
