Rules Q&A
- Q: Isawa Emori -exp reads: Your Earth Shugenja need not bow as a cost of Earth actions they perform
Does this mean that an action they take must have the Earth keyword OR
The bit in the celestial rules preview about keywords reads:
Keywords. For greater consistency, all cards follow the rules on keyword inheritance that in Samurai applied only to Actions and Spells. In practice this means that, for example, Personalities can inherit the Political keyword from their ability.
Since "all cards follow the rules on keyword inheritance" does that mean that a non-Earth spell or action will inherit the Earth keyword from my Earth shugenja? I'm sure the knee-jerk reaction to this will be no but the word ALL is pretty broad otherwise it wouldnt be...well ALL.
Edit: Actually this can become broken in alot of ways. THis means that anytime I attach the a Water spell to a shugenja they gain the Water keyword? This is very confusing.
Edit2: and what happens if I attach a unique item to a non-unique personality? do they inherit the Unique keyword all of a sudden and I cant bring any more copies of that person into play and my deck?
I really cant wrap my head around this rule.
Thanks
A: Further in the thread from whence you quote, it is noted that the point about keywords effectively changes nothing and probably shouldn't have been mentioned.
So, as a general answer to your questions:
No; there is no case where a card (or any of its actions) will "inherit" keywords from any other card. Brook Cunningham, "What defines an Elemental action? (Keyword inheritance)", 3 Jul 2009
