Rules Q&A
- Q: I have six different questions.
A. Opposing for actions:
My opponent attack my last Province with Kuon. I defend with Koto. I have a bowed Isawa Jun with an attached unbowed Follower at home.
Question A: Can I play Peasant Vengeance to Kuon, bowing Jun’s Follower?
1. Yes. You have presence, meet relevance, cost could be paid, and Koto opposes Kuon, making Kuon “an opposing Infantry Personality with no Followers or Items”
2. No. The Follower performing the Peasant Vengeance must be at the current battle and opposing Kuon
A: The answer is "2." Peasant Vengeance is an Action card (can't be in any army) and its last given reference for "opposing" was "one of your Followers." Ergo, the target must be opposing the Follower you bowed to pay the cost. Martin Lund, "Rules for 20 January 2005", 24 Jan 2005 - Q: Is the Force of the follower "set" once it's attached?
A: Yes. It isn't a trait of the Follower Token, but part of the effect of the Reaction making the Follower Token as a one-shot. Martin Lund, "Rules for 2 June 2004", 6 Jun 2004 - Q: since Jun's Chi is 5, you could conceivably reduce her cost twice (to 5) while bringing her into play and end up with a 2F, 1C personality. Is this true?
A: No. There's only one time you're ever bringing the card into play, so only one opprtunity to alter the cost. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 December 2003, Part 2", 13 Dec 2003 - Q: Can I use the reaction on Shiba Tsukimi Exp to pay only 7 gold for Jun and still have her with 5 Chi?
A: No. The cost changes before Isawa Jun enters play, and cards in play cannot be affected without special text (Diamond rules, pg. 55), which Tsukimi doesn't have. Zen Faulkes, "Shiba Tsukimi Exp + Isawa Jun", 25 Mar 2005 - Q: Jun's second trait activates every time she comes into play?
A: Yes. See Archive, Suitengu's Surge. Zen Faulkes, "Shiba Tsukimi Exp + Isawa Jun", 25 Mar 2005
