- Card Text
- After you reveal cards in your Provinces at the start of your turn, if this Event is face-up in one of them, resolve the following effects: If this is the first time this game any copy of this trait has resolved without having its effects negated, lose 10 Honor, remove the Imperial Favor from the game, shuffle this Event into your deck instead of discarding it, and until the game ends, Dark Lord's Favor may not be played. Otherwise, return the Imperial Favor to the game and end the ongoing effect restricting the playing of Dark Lord's Favor.

- Erratum: Reads, "Kachiko's Kiss If this is the first time a Kachiko’s Kiss resolved this game, lose 10 Honor, remove the Imperial Favor from the game, prevent Dark Lord’s Favor from being played until the game ends, and shuffle this card into your deck instead of discarding it; otherwise, return the Favor to the game uncontrolled, and end the restriction against playing Dark Lord’s Favor." [MRP, Lotus Edition, 31 October 2005] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 72
- The second effect happens the second time this event appears for any player, not just the original revealer. [DW, 5/10/98] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 72
- Only causes an honor loss the first time it resolves. [March 1998] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 72
Rules Q&A
- Q: Depends on the deck that needs to guard against the favour. Severed from the Emperor and Kachiko's Kiss give strong protection against it and are useful otherwise, but really only in SL.
A: Just a note here. Severed from the Emperor will *not* protect your cards from the Underhand. Discarding a card from an opponent's hand doesn't count as a use of the Favor. Same reason you can't play C@C against an opponent's Arrival of the Emerald Champion, you can only play it against his discard of the Favor as a cost. Just because the Favor is discarded as part of a card's effect doesn't make it a use of the Favor (Command of the Kami, anyone?). Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for July 30th", 30 Jul 2001 - Q: So the question is: If I have Akuai out and I flip an event (say Troll Raiders or Kachiko's Kiss), can I then bow Akuai during my limited phase to discard the event? Or do I need to wait until it gets shuffled back into the deck on my next turn.
A: Technicality: Akuai doesn't bow to use his ability.
Ruling: Events that specifically list something that happens to them other than the normal 'discard after resolution' override Yokuni Sensei's clause on staying in the province. Events like Kachiko's Kiss, which shuffle themselves back in, and Events like Duty to the Empire, which say they enter play, trump Yokuni Sensei. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for December 18th", 18 Dec 2000 - Q: After Kachiko's Kiss resolves for the first time, can the Kyuden Otomo player still add Favour tokens to the Stronghold?
A: Rules Archive, Imperial Favor: "Removal of the Imperial Favor from the game does not: Prevent lobbying to create other effects (e.g., Kyuden Otomo)." Zen Faulkes, "Kachiko's Kiss vs Kyuden Otomo", 8 May 2006 - Q: Question 2;
If Kachiko's Kiss has resolved can I use Kyuden Otomo to gain access to the favour again?
A: Well, "The Imperial Favor" does NOT equal "a Wind card". Changing your wind will not affect Kachiko's Kiss at all. Chris Fuchs, "Kyuden Otomo and Kachiko's Kiss Questions", 24 Sep 2005 - Q: [Imperial]
Can Tsanuri exp 2nd ability still be used if Kachiko's Kiss is active?
A: Yes. KK just removes the Favor itself and prevents playing DLF. Nothing about the final clause of Tsanuri's ability requires the Favor to be in the game, it just allows it to be interacted with like a Favor action, such as negated by Confusion at Court. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 22 Jan 2026 - Q: I knew these were too good to be true. Thanks [Imperial] Can I use Avoid Fate on the 2nd showing of my Kachiko's Kiss?
A: Yeah, same answer as saaam; I don't see why you'd think not? :/
(Replying to a player: "Avoid Fate Under the optional "each Event only happens once" rule, Avoid Fate cannot be played in reaction to the second or later appearance of an Event which has already resolved. [DW, l5rinfo, 9/3/96]") @saaam That doesn't apply to Kachiko's Kiss. What it means is there's no legal trigger for Avoid Fate because the Event isn't going to Resolve a second time under that Rule, but Kiss does re-resolve, even under that Rule. Brook Cunningham, "Sun and Moon #rules-questions", 17 Apr 2025 - Q: So this also came up last night: Kachiko's kiss/severed from the emperor. How do these interact with effects that are not actually the favor? E.g., hidden catacombs of the scorpion We played that they both effected the same but reading kachiko's kiss on Oracle it seems like it might not? And one more Haha sorry for the barrage: Gozoku sensei: until you next discard the imperial favor for the condition upon an effect, etc.
I was interpreting this to mean "the condition" to mean the condition of gozoku senseis ability. Not any favor use at all.
But it's a little unclear on Oracle text. So does that mean using the favor for anything ends the effect?
A: I'll look. Brook Cunningham, "Oracle of the Void #rules", 6 Jun 2021
