Rules Q&A
- Q: Hello
We have som dubts about a situation.
in porvince 1º we have defending Kakita Hideo engangig with bayushi histao + Tsi Blade + follower. In province 2º is empty
The scorpion start in the province nº4 and use histao actionn to jump to battlefield
Scorpion Clan · Samurai. Hisato can not attach Items, except Armor and Weapons. Battle: If Hisato is at a battlefield and has only one Follower or no Followers: Move him to another battlefield.
Is corect that acction??? because he didn`t have people there.
Thank you very much
A: Yes, Bayushi Hisato's player can move him to the current battlefield (Province 4's battlefield in your example) even if he has no units there. Note that Hisato's action satisfies the exceptions to both the rule of Presence and of Location:
Presence: http://rules.l5r.com/Battles#Rule_of_Presence"EXCEPTION: A player who controls no units at the current battlefield can take an Action if its costs or effects say they can move one or more of his units there."
Location: http://rules.l5r.com/Battles#Rule_of_Location"EXCEPTION: A Battle Action can target or be taken by a card in a unit at another location if its costs or effects say they can move the unit to the current battlefield." Brook Cunningham, "Hisato jump Prencence and location", 14 Mar 2008 - Q: chuda rintaro targets kaakita hideo with the open ability printed on him. durring the attack phase obsidian dragon assigns to a province durring infantry. if kakita hideo assigns opposing the dragon does (he/she) die from 0 chi or what happens? acording to samury rules please :p
Chuda Rintaro Force/Chi: 3 / 3 Ho/Co/PH: - / 7 / 0 Spider Clan. Shugenja. Shadowlands. Open: Target another player's Personality: After each time he assigns this turn, he suffers -2F/-1C and gains the Shadowlands keyword (until the end of the turn).
Obsidian Dragon Force/Chi: 6 / 4 Ho/Co/PH: - / 10 / 0 Nonhuman. Dragon. Shugenja. Cavalry. Unique. Can not attach Items or Followers. Non-Unique Personalities have a Force and Chi penalty equal to their own Personal Honor while they oppose Obsidian Dragon; this will not reduce Chi below 1.
Kakita Hideo Force/Chi: 1 / 3 Ho/Co/PH: 0 / 4 / 3 Crane Clan. Samurai. Duelist.
A: The Shadow Dragon's effect kicks in as soon as someone is opposed to him. That'll typically be considered to happen prior to any triggered effect or Reaction that is timed "after" whatever event transpired.
So in this case the Crane Samurai would assign and upon assignment he would be at 1 Chi. After that, the Chuda's curse would then trigger, afflicting him with a fatal Chi penalty. Martin Lund, "timing affter assigne vs while opposed!", 30 Jul 2007
