Rulings
- Increased gold production applies to non-action gold producing effects and not apply to Reactions. [Partial reversal, JA, email, 8 December 2004] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 145
- Only prevents Province destruction from battle resolution, not from card effects (e.g., Pointless Sacrifice). [ML, 29 November 2004] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 145
- If there is no opposing army, the battle is only counted as a win for the purposes of the stronghold's own text, not any other effects (e.g., Rend the Soul). [ML, 8 December 2004] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 145
- A 0F Personality against an empty army does not win the battle. [JA, web, 28 February 2005] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 145
Rules Q&A
- Q: The wording on Aramasu's Pride doesn't say 'gold-producing holding' anywhere. Theoretically, after a successful Raid, could you target a Shrine of Stone?
A: Sure. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 January 2005", 31 Jan 2005 - Q: I know you cannot destroy opposing armies because of how Raiding is worded on Aramasu's Pride but i am curious if Rend will interact differently during a raid.
A: It doesn't interact in any special way with Raid Battles themself, though you can use it to capitalize on Aramasu's Pride's wacky counting methods to get extra gold. Martin Lund, "Rules for 7 January 2005", 12 Jan 2005 - Q: How does Aramasu's Pride's ability to give a holding +4 gold production work with Moneylender? Does it give Moneylender Bow: Produce 4 Gold, do nothing, or increase it's own ability to produce gold equal to it's number of wealth counters removed +4?

A: It would produce gold equal to the number of Wealth counters removed (minimum 1), plus four. Jon Palmer, "Moneylender and Aramasu's Pride", 6 Jun 2014 - Q: In a Raid Battle can standard battle actions be played as it is still classed as a battle?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Aramasu's Pride", 29 May 2007 - Q: (C)an Raid Battle actions be played in a standard battle as they are still Battle Actions?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Aramasu's Pride", 29 May 2007 - Q: Does the raised gold production from the won raid battles stay around permanently, or is it gone after one use? From reading it it seemed permanent, but I've seen strategies and such that suggest otherwise. If it's NOT permanent, what's the proper use?
A: Unspecified durations of continuous effects last until the end of the turn. (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 70, "Costs and Effects") Aramasu's Pride creates such an effect on the holdings in question. Their production is increased until the end of the turn. Martin Lund, "Aramasu's Pride", 11 Apr 2005 - Q: I looked in the archives but it didn't fully answer the question. You wrote:

Pointless Sacrifice
Reaction: Play as the Attacker after your army wins a battle against a DEFENDING ARMY to destroy that Province if your army's total Force is greater than the Provine's strength.
Would Aramasu's Pride allow you to forgo the clause of defending army or would a personality have to be opposing you in the raid itself?
Lion's Rampant also follows a clause like that and would it allow itself to be played?
A: The relevant Archive ruling is, "If there is no opposing army, the battle is only counted as a win for the purposes of the stronghold's own text, not any other effects (e.g., Rend the Soul)." Zen Faulkes, "Raiding and Card Rulings 2", 21 Mar 2005 - Q: Tsuruchi Shiroko
Mantis Clan Samurai * Magistrate * Pirate Ally * Unique
Raid Reaction: After you win a Raid battle, even against no units at resolution, turn all cards in the current Province face-up. you may pay 6 Gold as a cost to target one Personality in the Province and bring him into play in your home, ignoring all other costs.
Aramasu's Pride
Raid Limited: Once per turn, declare an additional Attack Phase. This is a Raid attack. During it, battles are Raid battles, and battle resolution does not destroy armies or Provinces and does not bow Pirate cards. After it, target a number of Holdings up to the number of battles you won (even against no units at resolution). Raise their Gold production by 4
Question: Can you use the gold bonus from the stronghold for Shiroko's ability or has the opportunity to use that ability already passed by the time you can use the bonus?
A: No. Shiroko's ability is after a battle; Aramasu's Pride is after the whole attack phase. (Edit: Correction.) Zen Faulkes, "Tsuruchi Shiroko + Aramasu's Pride", 17 Mar 2005 - Q: Are attack phases created by Limited actions (such as Ambush or Aramasu's Pride) still considered to be within the player's action phase?
A: No. The Action phase stops and resumes. Zen Faulkes, "Attack phases created by Ambush/Aramasu's Pride/etc", 9 Mar 2005 - Q: Are attack phases created by Limited actions (such as Ambush or Aramasu's Pride) still considered to be within the player's action phase?
A: No. The Action phase stops and resumes. Zen Faulkes, "Attack phases created by Ambush/Aramasu's Pride/etc", 6 Mar 2005 - Q: Does an army with zero force against no defenders win a raid battle?
A: No. You only win if your army has more Force than the other. An empty army has a total Force of 0. Yours needs to have at least 1. Jeff Alexander, "Aramasu's Pride and 0 force", 28 Feb 2005
