Rules Q&A
- Q: If I attack with Hida Kuon and the enemy player has 2 Personalities with 4 force each and I kill the 1st with Kami Unleashed, bowing Kuon. He passes on his next action. Can I use Final Duty to kill the remain personality with the ranged 6 attack since Kuon is bowed and no longer giving force to the battle.
A: http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_F#Force_total: "(A)n army's Force total is the sum of the Force of all unbowed Personalities and Followers in the army."
Yes.
(I'm assuming this is about the Exp. 6 Kuon. Although not relevant to this question, I'll take a second to remind people to mention Experience levels in questions. Thanks.) A: Yes.
If Kuon is the only personality at the Battlefied, and is bowed, your Army's Force is 0. Dan Jacobson, "Final Duty/Army total force?", 26 Jul 2009 - Q: If I use Togashi Sho to perform Kami Unleashed, what is the strength of the Ranged attack if I do not have a Tatoo card in my discard pile?
Togashi Sho Text Dragon Clan • Fire • Monk • Tattooed Sho has +3F if a Tattoo card is in your discard pile.
Kami Unleashed Kami • Tattoo Battle: Target your unbowed Personality, and bow him unless he is Tattooed: Ranged Attack with strength equal to your Personality's Force.
I guess the real question is when Kami Unleashed enters the discard pile. Does it enter as soon as I announce the action (giving Sho the +3 Force and making it a Ranged 7) or not until after the action has been resloved (only making it a Ranged 4, but giving him 7 force imediately after the action is done).
Thank you!!!
A: Kami Unleashed would enter the discard pile after all its effects resolved.
Kami Unleashed would cause a Ranged 4 attack.
After all reactions to targeting/effects, the Ranged 4 attack would resolve, then Sho would gain the +3F bonus from his trait (by the Kami Unleashed card being in the discard pile). Dan Jacobson, "Togashi Sho + Kami Unleashed", 13 Jul 2009 - Q: I know for certain it didn't in Celestial edition - that's why Final Duty plus Kami Unleashed were so powerful together in SPC
A: @Brook Cunningham That's not what it was supposed to be. After Reese changed the rules so that the force of a unit counted the Personality and Followers' forces, bowed or unbowed, the force of an army was still supposed to what you would count in Battle Resolution.
