Rules Q&A
- Q: Say I am in a battle with a lion ancestor token and Kitsu Akai vs a 4ph paragon. I play KItsu akai's ability "Battle: Bow your performing Ancestor Personality and target an enemy card without attachments: Destroy it. Gain 1 Honor." and target the 4ph paragon. Can the player then play iron will "Reaction: After another player targets your Paragon with a Battle action performed by a Personality with lower Personal Honor: The action's costs are ignored and its effects are negated. That player may take an additional Battle action."? Kitsu Akai has 4ph and is performing the action which also has the lion ancestor performing, which personal honor is checked in this case?
A: Iron Will can be played in the situation you described.
The trigger for Iron Will only checks to see if the action is being performed by a personality with lower Personal Honor than your Paragon, it doesn't care that there is another personality with equal PH to your Paragon that is also performing the action. Ben Higgins, "Kitsu Akai + iron Will", 24 Feb 2012 - Q: The new proclaim rules say that you can gain honour as a reaction to coming into play if you did not reduce their cost with the clan discount, once per turn.
So, just to check my understanding, if I am a dragon clan player and I bring a dragon clan monk into play with Panther tattoo, in my attack phase, can I proclaim to gain their personal honour?
Panther Tattoo Tattoo Battle: If there are any enemy units at the current battlefield, choose your performing Tattooed Personality who is face-up in one of your provinces or discarded (not dead): Bring him into play at the current battlefield, paying 2 less Gold and ignoring Honor Requirements.
What about if I am a Lion Clan player and use Kitsu Akai's limited ability? Can I proclaim for the ancestor token? Kitsu Akai Lion Clan • Water • Shugenja Limited: Create a 2F/2C/3PH Lion Clan • Samurai • Ancestor • Spirit Personality. Battle: Bow your performing Ancestor Personality and target an enemy card without attachments: Destroy it. Gain 1 Honor.
A: The Proclaim ability is: Reaction: After you bring a Personality in your province with your Clan alignment into play without Clan discount, if it is your turn: Gain Honor equal to his base Personal Honor.
You must have brought the Personality into play from a province. You cannot Proclaim after bringing a Personality into play from the discard pile, or after creating a Personality. Alex Jones, "Proclaiming and Cards That Bring Personalities Into Play", 5 Jan 2012
