Rules Q&A
- Q: I am playing a Forest Spirits deck and have brought out a shugenga who has brought along a friend, in this example I will use Kitsune Gina and her fox. Now the fox gets dishonoured so I attach Beseech Sakkaku to Gina and use it targeting the fox.
Gina, as the spell caster is performing the spells as stated on page 62 of the rule book but is the fox spirit also performing? What happens?
a) The fox is performing so instead of gaining an honour rehonours itself
b) The fox is not performing so I gain 1 honour or 3 honour if I destroy the spell
Beseech Sakkaku
Limited: Bow this Shugenja, you may destroy this card if he is Earth, and target your Spirit Personality: If you destroyed this card, gain Honor equal to the Spirit's Personal Honor; if you did not destroy it, gain 1 Honor.
A: All performing of actions is explicit in EE, therefore the Fox Spirit is not Performing the action on the spell, only the the Shugenja the spell is attached to (Gina) is.
However, as noted by the rules on rehonoring, since the Fox Spirit is targeted by the action on Beseech Sakkaku, the Fox Spirit will rehonor instead of it's controller gaining the honor. Ben Higgins, "Who performs the action in Beseech Sakkaku?", 6 Sep 2012
