Rules Q&A
- Q: "Soul of..." Question
Kitsune Shudo is aligned to Yoritomo's Alliance. Kitsune Ryukan (soul of Kitsune Shudo) is not.
For the purposes of building a Gold legal deck, if I use 3xKitsune Shudo does he keep his Y.A. alignment?
A: No. He is played as Kitsune Ryukan in every way. Jeff Alexander, "post for 6 March 2002", 7 Mar 2002 - Q: The Great and Terrible Ray Lau said that we could interchangeably use the "Spirit of" cards with their previous incarnations. Kitsune Shudo is a member of Yoritomo's Alliance, but his next version, Ryukan, is not. Is Shudo played as though he has no such allegiance?
A: If you're using an old card as a proxy for its Gold Edition "Soul of..." version, you treat it IN ALL WAYS as that version. You are not allowed to use the older cards as-printed in the Strict Gold environment. Jeff Alexander, "replies to 6-9 July 2001", 19 Jul 2001 - Q: Kitsune Shudo is a member of Yoritomo's Alliance, but his next version, Ryukan, is not. Is Shudo played as though he has no such allegiance?
A: Play as the Gold Edition Personality. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 10 July 2001", 11 Jul 2001
