Rules Q&A
- Q: I bow Kozue to give one of my personalities the double chi trait then in a battle I play heroic sacrifice in that personality does he gains again the double chi, because kozue is still bowed?
A: The last effect is the one that matters. If Effect A grants a trait and Effect B takes it away, your card does not have the trait. If Effect B is continuous and ends, and Effect A is also continuous, like Kozue, the trait will return. You will also get the trait again if Effect A ends and starts again. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 January 2002", 9 Jan 2003 - Q: 2) If I bow Kozue to give Samurai Bob double chi and then Samurai Bob dies. Can I leave Kozue bowed to keep giving the dead Bob double chi? That way if they come back into play they'd keep the double chi, right?
A: Yes and right. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 November 2002", 19 Nov 2002 - Q: I'd assume it'd be legal to negate someone else's Kozue for a turn using Forgotten Lesson? Or trade your starting Sensei for a bird using the Temples of the Crow ability? Or to use Temples to discard Kozue to play a second Sensei on your stronghold?
A: When a game term already has a definition, you don't use keywords. The Gold Edition rulebook even lists "Sensei" on page 33 as one example of an instance in which keywords don't apply. References to Sensei only work with cards that match the type displayed on page 8. Jeff Alexander, "post for 7 Oct. 2002", 8 Oct 2002
