Rulings
- Ability ignores the honor requirements of the returned Personality. [JA, 28 March 2000] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 111
Rules Q&A
- Q: If im using the 1000 years of darkness stronghold Can Kuni Yori exp3 get other people's DEAD non Shadowlands personalities and return them into play, or is that go against the stronghold restriction"?
A: By an old ruling, it's legal. Jeff Alexander, "post for 5 November 2002", 6 Nov 2002 - Q: When you put a personality into play from other place than a province, as you can do with Kuni Yori Exp3 or Forgotten Tomb, does the entering into play effects trigger? I mean, a 4 honor loss, a Will only Join trait...
A: Yes. You can't play a Personality this way who will only join another clan. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 November 2001", 19 Nov 2001 - Q: Whn you take control of an opponent's personality (Say, via Kuni Yori Ex3), and said personality dies, does it go to your discard pile (card's controller) or your opponent's (card's owner)?
It goes to the current controller's discard pile.
Hm. This contradicts some other rulings I've heard, both in tourney and from Jeff -- but from the latter a LONG time ago, and I believe I could be wrong. I'm not exactly questioning the ruling (I'm not sure enough about the memory) as much as wondering about it -- why would you say current controller's?
A: Because it's in the Archive that way. Under Death and Destruction:
A destroyed card goes in the discard pile of whoever controlled it at the time. If someone else owns it, the card does not change piles when the change-of-control effect would normally wear off. [DW, 12/2/97] Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for February 2nd", 3 Feb 2001
