Rules Q&A
- Q: I was on -18 honour, my opponent was on -15. He played Arranged guilt on a 3ph. I pointed out he loses the game as the person was 3 personal honour but he says that the honour loss for kiling the person doesn't happen to after the action. Is this true?
A: No.
http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Physically_mark ... shonorable: "After a dishonorable Personality is destroyed, the player who controlled him or her loses Honor equal to the Personality's base Personal Honor." Nothing there about "after an action." It's right away pronto. Zen Faulkes, "Arranged Guilt and losing the game", 10 Mar 2011 - Q: If my opponent were to play Arranged Guilt and I was to react with Thriving Light, (A) he would not lose the honor because his loss is first and I end up losing 3 honor? Or (B) can i wait til after he loses the 3 honor then react with Thriving Light to reduce my loss of 3 honor?
A: You cannot wait to play Thriving Light. It has a clearly defined point where it is played: Immediately after an action's mandatory costs have been paid but before any effects happen.
Thriving Light would affect the first lose, but not your, because they are spelled out as happening in order, not simultaneously. Zen Faulkes, "Thriving Light questions", 3 Mar 2011 - Q: If my opponent were to play Arranged Guilt and I was to react with Thriving Light, (A) he would not lose the honor because his loss is first and I end up losing 3 honor? Or (B) can i wait til after he loses the 3 honor then react with Thriving Light to reduce my loss of 3 honor? I would think its (A) because my opportunity to play Thriving Light happens after my opponent dishonors and destroys his Courtier or Magistrate.
Arranged Guilt Political Limited: Dishonor and destroy your target unbowed Courtier or Magistrate Personality: Dishonor another player's target Personality. You, then that Personality's owner, each lose 3 Honor.
The Thriving Light Political • Unique Reaction: Before an action's resolution: Until that resolution ends, reduce the next Honor gain or loss by 5 (minimum zero). Battle: Destroy a target Terrain. Limited: Destroy a target Region. Open: Bow a target attachment.
A: "Trigger" is used in a broad sense, and it is not formally defined as a game term. Your impression that triggers are indicated by certain words is just an impression, not a rule.
In this case, the honor loss is indeed a "trigger" for the effect of Thriving Light. Zen Faulkes, "Thriving Light questions", 3 Mar 2011 - Q: Can I play Arranged Guilt off a personality (Magistrate or Courtier) I have control of due to Enticement?

A: Yes.
If the question is, "Does 'Your" mean I control it or own it?", generally the latter. http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_X-Z Zen Faulkes, "Arranged Guilt + Enticement", 6 Jul 2010 - Q: As the performer of Arranged Guilt is destroyed as a cost, does Enough Talk have someone to duel? Can it be used to stop it's effects?
A: Enough Talk can be legally announced and played, but will have no effects, as no challenge can be issued and the duel cannot be won. Zen Faulkes, "Arranged Guilt + Enough Talk", 11 May 2010
