Rules Q&A
- Q: Does Kyoso no Oni xP3 overcome The Last One? Simple yes or no is fine.
With further explanation: Should a personality have The Last One used upon them, would the playing of Kyoso no Oni by her text, being that which destroys a personality with gold cost greater than the first personality, destroy that second personality (being the one upon whom the Last One was applied, rather than the personality first destroyed by her trait)?
A: Ah, I see now.
Yes, Kyoso no Oni Exp 3's triggered trait can destroy a Personality targeted by The Last One. Brook Cunningham, "Kyoso No Oni xp3 and The Last One", 31 Jan 2009 - Q: : "...until the end of the game, other players' actions can not... destroy him."
A: A trait is not an action. Brook Cunningham, "Kyoso No Oni xp3 and The Last One", 31 Jan 2009 - Q: Does Kyoso no Oni xP3 trump The Last One? Simple yes or no is fine.
A: If you're using L5R cards to play an odd variant of Euchre, then perhaps she would.
Otherwise, I'm sorry; I don't understand your question. Brook Cunningham, "Kyoso No Oni xp3 and The Last One", 31 Jan 2009 - Q: Per the rulebook, http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Tracking_rule if I bring Kyoso in and then target herself for the entering-play trait and then use Hidden Dragon to put her back at the bottom of my Dynasty deck, does this mean that I can use her entering-play trait again, or does the card's text of "Once per game" still apply?
A: The Tracking Rule isn't different for Unique cards. Use the trait again if you want. Zen Faulkes, "Kyoso no Oni Xp3 and Hidden Dragon Temple", 27 Jun 2008 - Q: Kyoso no Oni Exp 3
Honor loss is a trait. See: http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Traits
http://rules.l5r.com/Effects#Order_of_effects: "Effects occur in the order they are written."
Kyoso no Oni enters play, since both honor loss and her destroy effect are both traits, I can opt to destroy her before losing the honor. Correct?
A: Yes, although effects occur in order, both the honor loss and destruction trait are triggered to the same occurrence; the honor loss trait is implicitly "after entering play" just like the destruction trait. Thus, the traits' effects occur in an order chosen by the active player. Roger Giner-Sorolla, "Kyoso no Oni Revisited", 20 May 2008 - Q: If I destroy her before losing the honor she is now out of play, thus ending further application of entering play traits/effects correct?
A: The most consistent reading, in line with the Comprehensive Rules, is that both sets of effects are triggered at the same time, and both must be applied even if one of them makes the card they were on leaves play. So, no. I've clarified this here:
http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Traits Roger Giner-Sorolla, "Kyoso no Oni Revisited", 20 May 2008 - Q: Ie I destroy her by her own trait and as a result do not lose honor. Correct?
A: No. Roger Giner-Sorolla, "Kyoso no Oni Revisited", 20 May 2008 - Q: Text Oni • Nonhuman • Shadowlands • Enlightened • Experienced 3 • Unique • Lose 8 Honor. After the first time each game Kyoso no Oni enters play: Destroy a Personality you control; if this destroyed him, you may target and destroy another Personality with an equal or lower Gold Cost than his. Limited: Target a Ring and a Shadowlands Personality. Destroy both targets.
Question 1)does "Lose 8 Honor" is a trait? 2)if "yes" can i choose to use "Destroy..." trait before "lose 8 honor" trait? 3)if "yes" will i lose honor if i destroy kyoso from her "destroy..." trait first?
thanks, in foward
